Empowered toSucceed
Dear Parents, Guardians, andCommunityMembers,
The 2014-15 school year has come to a close. It has been a fantastic yearwithmany accomplishments andgoals beingmet.
This year I am proud to say that we saw successful passage of a $12.7million capital improvement project, recognition of
theWolcott Street School as a National School of Character, and Le Roy Jr./Sr. High School named to the 5thAnnual AP
Honor Roll. LeRoywas named to theBest Communities forMusic Education for the 8th year in a row andwe had numer-
ous sectional championships, includingour football, cheerleading, and indoor track teams. Several individual studentswere
recognized for their efforts in the classroom, on the stage andon the playingfield. In addition,we celebratedwith92 seniors
as they proudly became the “GraduatingClass of 2015.” It has been a great year!
On thebusiness sideof things, thedistrict hasfinally received stateaid support equivalent to the2008-09 school year, helping
us toclose thegapbetweengrowingexpenses and revenues, andallowingus to reduce taxes for thecoming school year. Two
contractshave reachedpositive settlements aswell. In regards to thecontractual settlements, wearepleased toannounce that
the school instructional day has been expanded. Thiswill cause for a slight change in our school day starting onSeptember
2, 2015.
The school day for theelementary schoolwill run from
8:45 -3:15,
while the secondary school hourswill be from
7:45-2:15.
This change allows for auniform school dayof six andonehalf hours for all students, which is quite typical formost schools
in the region. While the time changesmay seem slight, the additionalminuteswill allowus toprovide the equivalent of close
to seven additional days of instructional time over the course of the year.
Please plan ahead!!
These changes will impact busing routes and times! It is the Le Roy Central School Transportation
Department’s goal to have these routes out to the public by the last week of August,
but we need your help.
Pleasemake
sure that information for your child’s (children’s) transportation needs is current and up-to-date. This may require you to
complete a new transportation form and return it to the TransportationDepartment as soon as possible. In order tomeet the
deadlineofmailingbus routes to residentsby the lastweek inAugust, new forms andchangeswill beacceptedby theLeRoy
TransportationDepartment throughMonday, August 3, 2015. After this date, the routes will be built from the information
that is currentlyonfile.
Without this form, wecannot guarantee thatwecan scheduleyour transportationplansby thefirst
day of school onWednesday, September 2, 2015.
You can find a transportation form in this newsletter, on the Le Roy website at
or at any of our school
offices. TheLeRoyCentral SchoolDistrict TransportationDepartment prides itself onproviding safe and efficient transpor-
tation for our students,
but this cannot happenwithout accurate and timely information.
It takesmany hours to design the
routes and to compete themailing. It is absolutely
essential
we have this information in
order to ensure that our routes are correctlydesigned and that all students are assigned in
the system.Weurgeyou to take aminute and complete this formas soonaspossible. We
also ask that you encourage your friends and neighbors to complete their forms aswell.
Thanks somuch for your support.Working together,we hope to ensure a smooth transi-
tion to the 2015-16 school year! Have a restful and relaxing summer!
