For Bergen and LeRoy to be
chosen as one of the 15 semi-fi-
nalists in the America’s Best
Communitiescontest,wehave to
meet the following criteria. We
need to show “Community En-
gagement” by bringing together
diverseconstituents that represent
the community as awhole in the
visioning and implementation
planning process. We have to
show “Long Term Vision and
Strategy” by providing a clear
vision for thecommunity’ssocial
andeconomic future,by identify-
ing the infrastructure, resources
and relationships needed for
sustainable community revital-
ization,bothsocialandeconomic.
Andwe have to show “Short-
termTactics”whichoutlinean11
month implementation schedule
of projects or programs that are
part of the Community Revital-
ization Planwith a clear budget,
milestones and deliverables as
well as identifying the individ-
uals or groups responsible for
achievement.
The judges will be asked to
determineasa thresholdquestion
whether an Applicant Team and
their Community Action Plan is
sufficiently likely tobesuccessful
that it should be selected for a
Semi-Finalist prize award.
Comoin Associates, who are
preparing our Economic Re-
vitalization plan have been in
LeRoy and Bergen conducting
interviews and will be returning
for a public meeting. The time
and location will be announced
soon, but we invite all of you to
joinus tohelpComoinprepare a
strong, positive and compelling
plan that we will be submitting
in earlyNovember.
