TheA’s faced the Indians inwhatwouldbe
apitcher’sduel on thiscoolTuesdayevening.
TheA’s combinationof ShawnMorabito and
ConnerWright would prove toomuch as the
A’s would squeak out a 4-2 win. Morabito
and Wright could combine for a 4 hitter,
strikingout12 Indiansoversix innings. Zach
Vanderhoofwasveryeffective for the Indians
giving up 5 hits and 3 earned runs over 5
while striking out 10, before being replaced
byConnerMageewho gave up one run on 2
hits in 1 inning pitched.
Morabito would also provide the offense
for theA’s going3 for 3with a triple, scoring
twice and driving in one. Mike Covert also
had a nice day at the place as he went 3 for
2with twoRBI’s including the gamewinner
thatplatedMorabito in the4th.MavericMcK-
enziewent 3 for 2with two doubles, one run
scoredandanRBI for the Indians in the loss.
White Sox 9 RedSox 0
Wednesday night saw the White Sox
square off against the Red Sox. With the
White Sox coming out on top by a score of
9-0. Startingon themound for theWhiteSox
was Kenny Saunders. He went a complete
game throwing 84 pitcheswhile striking out
9batters. Hitting for theWhiteSoxwere:Fin
Shelbywhowas 4 for 4with 3 singles and a
double(2RBI),KennySaunderswhohad2 tri-
ples and a single(4RBI). MikeBuccinawho
had 3 singles, Chase Cummings chipped in
with2 singles. ParkerDowell drew2walks,
whileWyatt draper drew 3walks. Pitching
for the Red Sox were Johnny Panepento,
LukeCaccamise, andBryceLathan. Hiiting
for the red soxwere JohnnyPanepento, Luke
Caccamise , JoeyBrennan,AndAidenRiggi
allwithsingles. Addingaexcellentdefensive
play at 3rd basewas AidenRiggi Robbing a
sure extra base hit from theWhite Soxwith
the bases loaded.
Orioles 22 Tigers 1
TheOriolesandTigersfacedoffonThurs-
daynightwithSpringweatherfinallyseeming
to settle in. TheTigers struckfirst in the top
of the 1st whenAdamRisewick scored on a
RobbieNewmark infieldsingle. MerrittHolly
wouldalso reachbase,howeverOrioleshurler
JimmyBurnswould also settle in and strike
out3 ina row tocloseout thefirsthalf inning.
The Orioles wasted no time squaring
things up. Shortstop Drew Strollo tripled
down the thirdbaseline to leadoff thebottom
of the first, and scoredwhen the relay throw
was off line. A double by big brother Tyler
andbigJimmyBurnswouldgive theO’sa2-1
lead. Two batters later James Blake plated
Burns togive theO’s an early3-1 lead.
After a scoreless top, the Orioles came
back to theplate in the2nd. IaeinFrawley led
off the inningwithasingle. Twobatters later,
Drew Strollo drove Frawley inwith another
triple. TylerStrollowouldextend the leadon
the next at bat, driving in Drew to push the
score to5-1 after 2.
JamesBlakewould take themound in the
3rd for the Orioles and allow no runs. The
Orioles extended their lead in the bottom of
the inningafterawalk toBenPocockandsin-
gles byBlake andAdrian Stephens, making
the score7-1. Blakewould strikeout 3 in the
topof the4th inningand theOrioleswereat it
againwith thebats in thebottomhalf. Drew
Strollo once again showed hiswheels on his
third tripleof thegame. TylerStrolloknocked
inDrew againwith a single, and later scored
on a JimmyBurns single. Doubles by James
Blake and Adrian Stephens sandwiching a
walk toAndrewPocockwould score2more,
leaving the score at 12-1 after 4.
TheStrollobrotherswouldfinish thegame
on the mound, striking out 5 in the last 2
innings topreserve thewin. Offensively, the
Orioleswould add 10 runs in the 5th inning,
highlighted by a moon shot 3 run homer by
JimmyBurns.For thegame, theentireOrioles
squad contributed offensively. Drew Strollo
led the way with 4 hits (3 triples, 5 runs, 3
RBI). Tyler Strollo and Jimmy Burns (HR)
eachhad4hits,3 runs,and4RBI. BenPocock
added a hit and 2 runs, while James Blake
added 4 hits, 3 runs, and 4RBI. AndrewPo-
cockaddedahit, 2 runs, 2RBI,whileAdrian
Stephens had 3 hits, 5RBI, and a run. Iaien
Frawleyscored2 runswithahit, andWilliam
Bogan also scored for the Orioles. Jimmy
Burns earned thewin on themound striking
out 5 in 2 innings.
AdamRisewick scored for the Tigers and
pitched. Robbie Newmark had 2 hits, while
Merritt Holly added 3, and Joey Stephany
andWade Dziedzic had hits as well. Holly
andStephanypitched aswell, as didyounger
brotherAlexStephany
Indians 9 RedSox 8
On Friday, May 6th, the Indians would
host theRedSox. ThevisitingRedSoxwould
strike first in the top of the 1st inning. John
Panepento would single and score after Joey
Brennan and Luke Caccamise would reach
safely. The Indians would come right back
in the bottom half of the inning with 2 runs
after CoryWallace doubled scoringMaveric
McKenzieandZachVanderhoof. TheRedSox
would tie the game at 2 in the top of the 2nd
after John Panepento doubled scoring Zach
Flansburg. The Indians would try to break
things open in the bottom of the 3rd scoring
4 runs, 2 of whichwere driven in on a hit by
Jacob Iten. However, theRedSoxwouldnotgo
downwithout afight. LukeLathanandAiden
Riggi would each single and later score on a
ball hit by John Panepentomaking the game
6-4 after 4 innings. TheRedSoxwould tack
on another run in the5th afterXavienWalker
singled and scored.Down1 runheading in to
the topof the6th, theRedSoxwould take the
lead scoring 3 runs by John Panepento, Joey
Brennan and Luke Caccamise. The Indians
would not be outdone. Maveric McKenzie
would lead off the bottom of the 6th inning
with a single to left field and Tony Piazza
woulddraw awalk. With the game tying run
on base, ZachVanderhoof would drive a ball
up the middle that would find its way to the
wall allowing Zach to reach 3rd base. Zach
would later score the gamewinning run on a
passedball.
Hitting for the Indians were Maveric
McKenzie, TonyPiazza, ZachVanderhoof (3
hits), CoryWallace (double), Jack Duyssen,
and Jacob Iten.
Hitting for the Red Sox were John Pane-
pento (2singles,double), JoeyBrennan,Luke
Caccamise, Xavien Walker (2 hits), Luke
Lathan, andAidenRiggi.
Twins 8 Indians 7
It would take an extra inning to decide
thisLittleLeague thriller.The Indianswould
comeout swinging.MavericMcKenzie,Tony
Piazza, Connor McGee and Jack Duyseen
would all single in the first. WithMcKenzie
andPiazzagoingon toscore runs in the inning
to take theearly lead.TheTwinswouldanswer
with two runs of their own in the first. Colin
McCulleywould leadoffwithadouble to the
left centerwall.ColeRauscher thenhit adeep
shot over the left field fence.
The pitchers then settled in and made
it difficult to score runs. Zach Vanderhoof
started for the Indians pitching into the 5th
before being relieved by CoryWallace. The
TwinsstartedColeRauscherwhoalsopitched
into the5th inningbeforeBrianRoblee came
intofinish.
The Indians would break out in the 4th
inning to score 4 runs. They would tack
a run on in the 5th to take a 7-3 lead. The
Twinswould rally in their half of the inning,
scoring 4 runs to even things up. Both teams
would threaten but could not score until the
bottom of the 7th. BrianRoblee drew awalk
then stole second. He made his way to third
on a Kaden Burger fielders choice. Antonio
Martinezwould scoreRoblee on a infield hit
togive theTwins thewin.
Leading theway at the plate for the Tribe
wereConnorMcGee(3singles),ZachVander-
hoof (2singles),andMavericMcKenzie (2sin-
gles). Also hitting for the IndianswereCory
Wallace(triple), Maicen McKenzie (single),
TonyPiazza(single) and Jacob Iten(single).
The Twins pounded out ten hits in the
game. Colin McCulley lead the way for the
Twins with four doubles. Jackson Locke had
threesingles.ColeRauscherhitaHR.Connor
Murrell had a single to center and Antonio
Martinez had the game winning single for
theTwins.
Orioles 5 WhiteSox 1
The O’s and White Sox matched up in
a mid morning pitcher’s duel on Saturday.
The Orioles struck first in the bottom of the
first inning. Tyler Strollo laced a triple to the
outfield and later stole home to give the O’s
the early lead. However White Sox pitcher
FinnShelby struckout 5of thenext 6batters,
bafflingOrioles with a dancing knuckleball.
OriolespitcherJimmyBurnswasdominantas
well holding theWhiteSox scoreless through
3 frames.
In the bottom of the third inning, Drew
Strollo singled, stole 2 bases and later was
driven in byTyler Strollo. Awalk to Jimmy
Burns eventually resulted in another run, as
the Orioles pitcher capitalized on his speed
and eventually scored as well to make the
score 3-0 after 3 innings.
More excellent pitching by Shelby and
Burns brought the game to the 5th inning
with the score 3-0. The White Sox would
tighten thegame in the topof the5thhowever,
as slugger Kenny Saunders tripled in rugged
catcherChaseCummings. Burnswouldstrike
out the next batter to strand Saunders at 3rd,
leaving the score at 3-1.
In the topof the5th, theOrioles looked to
add insurance runs. This was accomplished
in quick fashion, as speedster Drew Strollo
hammered a shot to right field and circled
the bases to secure a stand-up in-the-park
home run. Two batters later Jimmy Burns
doubled and stole home, extending the lead
to5-1. JamesBlakewould come in topitch a
perfect 6th inning, securing the save and an
Orioles victory.
The story in this game was pitching, as
JimmyBurns earned thewinwith 14Ks in 5
innings,onlyallowing1hit. FinnShelbyalso
pitched superbly, only allowing 4 hits while
striking out 10. Josh Noble also saw action
on themound for theWhiteSox. Offensively,
Drew Strollo had 2 hits including a HR, 2
runs, andRBI. TyStrollo added a triple, run,
and RBI, while Jimmy Burns doubled and
scored twice. Kenny Saunders provided the
offense for theWhite Sox, tripling in Chase
Cummingswhowalked.
Yankees 12RedSox 11
The Yankees started off the first inning
loading the bases, but RedSox pitcher Bryce
Lathanwouldfight back strikingout 2batters
to get the Sox out of the inning. John Pane-
pentowouldget things going for theRedSox
in thebottomof thefirst hittinghisfirst home
run of his little league career over the fence
in left centerfield. The inningended1-0Red
Sox. In the second inning theYankeesAdam
Woodworthdrewawalkandeventuallyscored
onGianni FerraraRBI double. In thebottom
of the third, with the score tied 1-1. RedSox
lead-off hitter JohnPanepento started things
off hitting a single, JoeyBrennanwould then
double to score Panepento, and the X-Man
Xavien Walker would hit a single to score
Brennan putting the sox up 3-1 after 3.
In the topof the4th theYankeesbatscame
alive. AdamWoodworth again drew a walk,
followed by a Gianni Ferrara single, Ryan
Shirley then drew a walk to load the bases.
Yankees clean-up hitter, Ryan Higgins hit a
2RBIsingle toscoreWoodworthandFerrara.
Connor Hageman then singled, and Landen
Saeva hit a triple to scoreHiggins andHage-
man. Saeva would later score on a past ball
toput theYankeesup8-3.TheRedSoxwould
fight back. In the bottom of the fourth Zach
Flansburgwould reach first, John Panepento
doubled andLukeCacamise singled. Flans-
burgandPanepentoboth scoredmaking it an
8-5 game in favor of theYankees. In the top
of thefifth, theYankees JakeHiggins drew a
walk, Gianni Ferrara, TomCondidorio each
had base hits. Ryan Shirley then hit an RBI
single to score Jake Higgins, Ferrara scored
on apast ball, andRyanHiggins then singled
to score Tom Condidorio and Ryan Shirley.
With the score now 12-5 in favor of theYan-
kees the Red Sox would start a rally. Joey
Brennan started it offwith a single, followed
by singles fromXavienWalker,AidenRiggi,
Zach Flansburg and awalk by Luke Lathan.
With the bases loaded, John Panepentowith
a home run, single, and a double on the day
already, hit a triple, and reached home on an
errant throw to third.TheRedSoxwouldcome
up just short of the comeback losing 12-11 to
theYankees inanailbiterofagame.Pitching
for theRedSoxwereBryceLathan, and John
Panepento.Pitching for theYankeeswereTom
Condidorio andGianni Ferrara.
A’s 15 Tigers 4
TheA’s tookon theTigers in the thirdgame
ofaDerbyDayquadrupleheader. TheA’sbats
would tell thestoryon thisday, as theyscored
15 runs on 17hits. Brady Fix and Conner
Wright bothwent 4 for 4withBrady scoring
4 runs including his twoHR’s, a triple and a
double,whileConnerscored3 times. Jackson
FixandShawnMoribitobothwent3 for4with
Shawn following aBradyFixhomerun in the
2nd inning with one of his own for back to
back jacks. JakeWilliams hadmultiple hits
and scored a run for theA’s aswell.
TheTigersgothist fromRobbieNewmark,
including a double in the first inning and
AdamRisewick. The A’s used 5 pitchers to
scatter threehitswhilewalking10battersand
striking out 11. Robbie Newmark and Alex
Stephany worked the mound for the Tigers.
Thewin improved theA’s record to5-0while
theTigers dropped to 0-6.
A’s 10 Twins 7
A rareSundaygameonMother’sDay saw
the undefeated A’s face the also unbeaten
Twins. What appeared to be a pitcher’s duel
turned out to be the opposite as both teams
combinedfor21hits ina10-7A’svictory. Cole
Rauscherwastedno timegetting thingsgoing
for theTwinsashewouldhit a2-runhomerun
for his third HR of the young season in the
first. TheA’swould come right back scoring
three in thebottomof the inningwhenabases
loadeddoublebyShawnMorabitowouldscore
two. MorabitowouldscoreonaJakeWilliams
single tomake it 3-2A’s after one.
Both startingpitchersMorabito andColin
McCulleywouldsettledownandstrikeout the
side in the2nd. BrettBabcockwould triple in
the3rdandscoreonasinglebyJacksonLocke
to tie the game for theTwins. TheA’swould
go back on top in the bottom of the inning
whenMorabitowould double in Jackson Fix
who reached on single.
The offenses would open up in the 4th as
the Twins scored four runs on timely walks
andhitsbyBrettBabcock, JacksonLockeand
McCulley. TheA’sanswered rightbackasDJ
O’Geenwouldget thingsgoingwhenhisfirst
LL hit would scoreMikeCovert before dou-
bles byConnerWright andBrady Fixwould
plate 5more runs giving theA’s a 10-7 lead.
Relievers ConnerWright and Brett Babcock
would finish off the the 5th and 6th innings
with no damage being done.
TheA’spitchers combined to strikeout 13

walking 4. The win improves the A’s to 6-0
while the loss drops theTwins to4-1.
