LE ROY PENNYSAVER & NEWS - MARCH 3, 2019 It was a cold and snowy day as President Jim opened the meeting on Feb 20, 2019. The Pledge of Allegiance and the 4-way test were recited by all. Bob Carlsen provided an excellent invocation. Dates for Rotarians to remember were announced. 2-28-19 Rotary Regional Workshop in Amherst, NY; 3-13-19 District Governor visit; 3-15-19 Bowling Party; 3-22-19 Rotary Interact Alumni B-Ball Game against Cal- Mum Alumni, 3-23-19 Le Roy Historical Society Dinner, 4-6- 19 Rotary Summit; 4-20-19 Easter Egg Hunt; and on 5-17- 19 our Annual Graze to Raise to fund Milne Scholarships for local seniors. Bob Bennett reminded us of our Breakfast Meeting held on the last Friday of each month at 7 am. Upcoming service opportunities include the Le Roy Rotary Community Kitchen Dinners scheduled for February 26th and March 12th; Rotary Archive Maintenance, LHS Career Day lunch speaking opportunities on March 29th and April 26th, the Clothing Drop for the victims of sexual assault anytime at the ARC in Batavia and helping Randy Vink organize our New Member event coming up in April. Rotarians are requested to nominate people whom they consider to be potential members to Randy. We welcomed back Tom Feeley, Chris Biviano, Tim Moag, Tammy Arneth, Martha Bailey, Phil Plossl, and Jake Whiting after semi-extended misses. Most has great makeups or “green cards” to donate to the cause. President Jim has lots of pictures of Rotarians attending social events and other interesting occasions which help members “move up the totem pole”. If not a picture, he has a trivia quiz question. Some would rather just pay a fine, but others enjoy learning about how Rotary is doing great things around the world. The following members were able to “catch up” their dues through fines designed to continue to help Rotarians keep up with each other: Tom Feeley who also gave a very interesting birthday talk, Tim Moag for “learning” during tax time, Bob Boyce for a picture of 3 generations of Boyces, Scott McCumiskey for his social media work such as “Where Will Rotary Take You?”, Nan Chiuli for a deep understanding of the younger generation, Tammy Arneth for being an “artiste”, Erik Fix for his son’s Section V swim win, and Tony Gugino for a St. Bonny’s Game Day Program Guide. Avery informative program for the day was presented by Scott McCumiskey on the Art of Followership! Leaders and Followers are inextricably linked. Followers must not be sheep or lemmings but rather “beings” of intestinal fortitude. They must speak up even when it’s risky, accept uncertainty, and proactively find ways to complement their leaders. We are all leaders and must trust each other to achieve greatness!
