A motion to “reconsider” (bring us back to the starting point) the previously passed tax district was passed and the Board con- ducted more data gathering with the Village and LAS. On April 11, the Board passed the fol- lowing resolution: “Resolved, Town Board, of the Town of LeRoy, Will place a sum of money, not to exceed $90,000, in the 2020 Tentative Budget, to support LeRoy Ambulance Service; Will pass the necessary tax levy cap override resolution; Will request the Genesee Coun- ty Board of Elections to place a nonbinding proposition on the November 5, 2019, general election ballot whereby resi- dents of LeRoy may voice their opinion on taxpayer support for LeRoy Ambulance Service as stated above; Will adopt said 2020 budget with an affirmative vote by LeRoy residents; Will remove said subsidy from the 2020 budget, prior to adoption, with a negative vote by LeRoy residents; Will make this reso- lution known to LeRoy Ambu- lance Service, LeRoy Village Board, residents of LeRoy.” So, I will place a sum, not to exceed $90,000, in next year’s tentative budget. Right now, this represents about .25 on the town tax rate (currently .89), but the amount needed by LAS may be less as they work on their budget. More specif- ic info on tax impact will be forthcoming as we approach the Fall (please keep in mind many nonambulance issues may also impact the town tax rate one way or another). Then, we plan on having a proposition placed on this November’s ballot (by law, as we are not forming a tax district, the vote may not be binding, but all board members are pledging to treat the results as such). We will present the text of the proposition in the future but, in essence, as YES vote by residents will insure LAS fund- ing through the town budget for 2020. A NO vote by residents will cause the board to remove the subsidy prior to adoption of the budget and LAS will begin the process of dissolution for 2020. Again, as we move deeper into the budget process, we will keep you informed. April 27, is National Pre- scription Drug Take Back Day from 10 AM-2 PM. LeRoy Po- lice Dept. has a drop box avail- able for such items as well. The intent of this collection is to protect the health and well-be- ing of the public from improper disposal of drugs and “sharps”. Check local listings where else you may drop these items off. April 24, is Administrative Support Professionals Day. A big shout out to Laura Brodie, my secretary, the town’s book- keeper, and the courteous lady you meet at the window of the Assessor/CEO Office. She does a great job behind the scenes as well as serving as secretary to the ZBA and joint Planning boards. Speaking of behind the scenes, Terry Kanaley is deserv- ing of much credit for keeping our physical plant operational and presentable, and I know our judges can not say enough about the job Beth Hiscutt and Sara Butzbach do as our court clerks.
