Rotary opened this first day of May with the Pledge of Allegiance, a prayer by Rotarian Bob Carlsen and the Rotary Four Way Test. Donna Saskowski, Rotary's assistant governor was in attendance. We had many announcements including the Mom Prom taking place on May 9th with a reported high number of attendees. The upcoming Graze To Raise will be held on May 17th. Anyone with donations or in need of tickets, please contact Samantha Vagg. The Batavia Rotary Club will have their centennial celebration, and the GCC Nurses Gala are both taking place on May 10th. Rotary is putting together a team for the United Way Day of Caring on May 22 and the Rotary Earlyact club will be partnering with the LeRoy Police Dept to clean the Mill St Park. Our membership event will be May 23 with a thirsty Thursday for new prospects. The Oatka Hose is holding an open house on June 1st. Plans for the Rotary Meat Raffle are in the works and has been scheduled for June 15th at the American Legion. In addition Rotary's annual installation dinner will be on the 21st of June. It was also announced that the Town of LeRoy passed a resolution for the LVA. President Jim presented a check to Christine Gephart of the LeRoy Community Kitchen. Missed meetings were plentiful as well. Bart Dambra was first to be called on, but as a senior active, he was excused. While Christine Gephart, Ben Derragon, and Merritt Holly all had makeups, Betsy Halvorsen and Mike Tucci paid with green cards. President Jim paid for Marcia McKenzie's missed meeting. And honesty from Eric Fix didn't dismiss the 2 misses he had prior. He also ponied up with a green card. Fining started with Bart Dambra as he paid for all that golfing and fishing he enjoys in Florida. Marcia McKenzie was fined for a Facebook pic taken at Arches National Park in Utah. Christine Gephart for her Facebook pic of "how to replace a mop head". Ben Derragon received his fine for his 4th Rotary anniversary. Bob Boyce paid for telling a story instead of picking trivia. Jake Whiting also for a Facebook pic with friends. Merritt Holly for getting 80 attendees for the mom prom and Tammy Arneth for sharing an Easter cartoon on Facebook. Our program today consisted of our membership breaking up into committee groups. Remember to like us on Facebook at "Rotary Club of LeRoy"!
