Jake Higgins would hit a sacrifice fly ball to deep center field scoring McCallister. The O’s would get one more chance in the bottom of the 6th down 5-3. TJ Chrissy would get a double but the Yankees defense held strong to close out the game. Final score Yankees 5 O’s 3. Tigers 12 Red Sox 1 The Tigers and Red Sox kicked off the final Saturday of the regular season. The visiting Tigers would score first with 4 runs in the top of the 1st inning. Alex Spezzano led started a string of 3 straight hits by the Tigers to start the game after Xavien Walker followed Spezzano with a double and Jacob Iten a single. Jacob scored on his brother Elijah’s single. E. Iten would score on a bases loaded walk. The Tigers added a 5th run in the second inning on singles by Jacob Iten, Zander Staba and Elijah Iten. Two more Tigers runs in the third inning made the score Tigers 7, Red Sox 0 on singles by Donovan Gaillard and Xavien Walker. Both scored. The Red Sox got on the score board in the 4th inning when Issac Stella reached after being hit by a pitch and Peter Clark tripled. Tigers 7, Red Sox 1. The Tigers stretched the score to 9 to 1 in the 5th inning. Alex Spezzano reached after being hit followed by singles by Xavien Walker, Zander Staba, Elijah Iten and Evan Rose. The final scoring of the game came in the 6th when the Tigers added 3. Alex Spezzano walked, and Xavien Walker, Zander Staba and Elijah Iten all singled. Alex Spezzano earned the complete game win for the Tigers allowing 2 hits and striking out 10. Spezzano reached base 3 times for the Tigers, scoring all three times. Xavien Walker had 4 hits and scored 4 runs. Jacob Iten was 2-4 with 2 runs. Zander Staba singled three times. Elijah Iten recorded 4 hits and scored. Evan Rose singled and walked. Avante Walker and Donovan Gaillard singled. Tommy Clifford, Austyn Silvernail and Nate Pangrazio all walked. For the Red Sox, Peter Clark tripled and had a RBI. Cole Tonzi singled and Isaac Stella reached after being hit by a pitch and scored. Landen Stoddard, Isaac Stella and Cole Tonzi all pitched for the Red Sox. The Tigers finished the regular season an impressive 13-3, securing the #1 seed and Historical Cup Trophy. The Red Sox finished at 7-9. Yankees 12 Twins 2 Holden Sullivan would get the start on the mound for the Twins. The Yankees would get going in the first after Jake Higgins singled and Jude Sherman drew a walk. Wyatt Draper then doubled to score Higgins and Sherman. The Twins would make a pitching change in the inning bringing Joe Reschke to the mound. Connor Elmore reached base safely and also scored in the inning to put the Yankees up 4-0. The visiting Yankees would start out with Jake Higgins on the mound and Higgins made quick work of the Twins in the 1st striking out all 3 batters. The Yankees added a run in the second after Simon Greene reached based and scored. The Yankees would hold the Twins scoreless in the second. In the third the Yankees would make a pitching change bringing Wyatt Draper to the mound. The Yankees would again hold the Twins scoreless and add a run of their own in the inning after Connor Elmore reached base and scored in the inning. After 3 innings Yankees 6 Twins 0. The Yankees would put up 4 more runs in the 4th after Jake Higgins walked and stole 2 bases. Cam Riggi, and Jude Sherman also drew walks. Wyatt Draper then hit a 3 RBI double. Draper would then score in the inning on a Connor Elmore RBI single. In the bottom of the 4th the Twins would get on the board after Carter Page reached base and scored in the inning. In the top of the 5th the Yankees Cam Riggi singled and Jude Sherman walked. Wyatt Draper would then single to score Riggi. Connor Elmore then singled to score Sherman. The Yankees added 2 in the inning to go up 12-2. The Yankees would give up one run in the top of the 5th after Joe Reschke singled and later scored on a Liam Grayson RBI single. In the top of the 6th Matt Covert would add a single and Jake Higgins doubled but both were unable to score in the inning. In the bottom of the 6th with 1 out the Yankees would bring in their closer Jayce “Bob Cat” Panepento to seal the victory. Panepento would force a ground out and the strike out the last batter and leave the field to the sound of the crowd chanting “J.P, J.P, J.P”. With the victory the Yankees (8-8) locked up the third place spot in the standings setting up a rematch of this game against the Twins (4- 12) in the playoffs. Orioles 13 Indians 6 The Orioles and Indians played the final game of the regular season, with the Orioles looking for a victory to secure the #2 seed and first round bye. The Indians had other ideas in the first inning, as they scored quickly. Noah Kacznowski led off the game with a single, stole a base and scored on an Adam Woodworth single. Austin Bogue drove in Woodworth to take the early 2-0 lead. In the bottom of the first, Brayden Chase singled for the O’s. A few batters later, Brady McClurg came up big with a 2-out RBI single to cut the lead in half, 2-1. In the top of the 2nd, Orioles pitcher Chase Cummings settled in and retired the side. Indians starter Austin Bogue retired the first two batters in the bottomhalf of the inning. Jeremiah Sheehan changed the complexion of the inning however, hitting a short grounder off Bogue. Sheehan hustled down the first baseline, and an errant throw sailed way over first base. A hustling Sheehan made it all the way around the bases, knotting up the score 2-2 after 2. Noah Kacznowski singled again to start the 3rd, and the speedster was on 3rd base in no time. He would eventually score on anAdamWoodworth fielder’s choice. The Orioles answered back in the 3rd. Brayden Chase singled, followed by a double off the wall from Luke Lathan. Brady McClurg cashed them in again with a double of his own down the right field line. Aidan Weaver followed with another double, scoring McClurg to give the Orioles a 5-3 lead. After holding the Indians to no runs in the 4th, the Orioles blew open the game in the bottom of the inning. The Orioles scored 8 runs in the inning, highlighted by a double and single by Chase Cummings, walks to TJ Crissy, Brayden Chase (HBP), Jace Jedrewski, Brady McClurg, and RBI hits by Luke Lathan, Aidan Weaver, and Jeremiah Sheehan. A 3-run homerun by Austin Bogue in the 5th would finish the scoring with the Orioles winning by a final tally of 13-6. Austin Bogue, Noah Kacznowski, and Martin MacConnell shared pitching duties for the Indians. Kacznowski and Woodworth both had 2 hits and scored twice. MacConnell added a single while Bogue doubled and homered, driving in 4. Jagger Smith reached base with a HBP. Chase Cummings went the distance on the mound for the Orioles, striking out 9 to earn the win. Cummings added 2 hits, a run, and 2 RBI at the plate. Brady McClurg cleaned up the bases with 4 RBI on a double and single, also scoring twice. Also contributing with 2 hits were Brayden Chase (2 walks, 3 runs), Luke Lathan (double, 2 runs, walk, RBI), and Jeremiah Sheehan (2 runs, 2 RBI). The “Chef” Aidan Weaver baked scrumptious Weavecakes for his teammates all day long, with a walk, double, single, run and 2 RBI. Jace Jedrewski walked, singled, scored, and had an RBI while Mia Strollo walked and TJ Crissy walked and scored. The Orioles finished the season at 9-7 while the Indians were 7-9.
