LE ROY PENNYSAVER & NEWS - JUNE 16, 2019 LeRoy Little League Results Tigers 12 Orioles 3 The Tigers and Orioles played for the second time in 4 days. The visiting Orioles would strike first when Chase Cummings and Brayden Chase led off the game with back to back singles. After two strike outs by Tigers’ pitcher, Xavien Walker, Brady McClurg singled home both with a two out, two RBI single. In the bottom of the 2nd inning the Tigers would answer back, also with two outs. Jacob Iten doubled. Zander Staba hit him in with a triple. Staba would come home to score when the ball scooted away from the Orioles’ catcher. Tigers 2, O’s 2 After a scoreless top of the 2nd, the Tigers would score 4. A single by Evan Rose, walk by Tommy Clifford and single by Donovan Gaillard would load the bases. Alex Spezzano singled home 2 runs making it 4-2, then with 2 outs Jacob Iten doubled home 2 more runs. Tigers 6, Orioles 2 In the 3rd, the Tigers scored 2 more on a leadoff single by Eliljah Iten, a two out walk by Tommy Clifford, single by Donovan Gaillard and single by Alex Spezzano. Tigers 8, O’s 2 In the fourth inning the O’s would load the bases. TJ Crissy singled, Jeremiah Sheehan walked and Brayden Chase was hit by a pitch. However, Tigers pitcher, X-Man Walker, would get out of the jam to strand three O’s baserunners. The Tigers’ half of the 4th included a RBI single by Avante Walker after Jacob Iten walked, Zander Staba drove him in with a double. Staba was driven in by a Avante Walker single. Tigers 10, Orioles 2 The Tigers added two more in the 5th inning on a double by Alex Spezzano, single by Jacob Iten, single by Zander Staba and double by Elijah Iten. The O’s would close out the scoring making the final score 12-3 in the top of the 6th inning when TJ Chrissy reached after being hit by a pitched and scored after singles by Chase Cummings and Brayden Chase. Xavien Walker got the start on the mound and earned the win for the Tigers throwing 5 complete innings while allowing 2 runs and striking out 10. Elijah Iten pitched the 6th. Alex Spezzano had 3 hits in 4 at bats including 2 runs scored. Jacob Iten was 3-3 with 2 runs scored and a walk. Zander Staba scored 3 runs while going 3-4 with a single, double and triple. Elijah Iten and Evan Rose both scored twice and had 2 hits. Donovan Gaillard went 2 for 2 and scored a run. Tommy Clifford walked and scored. Avante Walker singled. For the O’s, Chase Cummings and Brayden Chase both recorded 2 hits and scored. Luke Lathan and Aiden Weaver singled. Brady McClurg singled and walked. TJ Crissy singled, reached on a hit batter and scored. Jeremiah Sheehan walked. The pitching duties were split amongst Chase Cummings, Brayden Chase and Brady McClurg. Indians 6 Twins 5 The Indians and Twins met for the third time this season after splitting the first two matchups. Adam Woodworth got the start for the Indians with Holden Sullivan on the hill for the Twins. The Indians would strike first in the bottom of the first inning. Noah Kaczanowski led off the inning with a single and would come around to score on a double by Adam Woodworth. Austin Bogue would then single but Woodworth and Bogue would be stranded on base after Holden Sullivan struck out the next two batters to end the inning. In the bottom of the second inning the Indians would add to their lead. Deacon Queal led off the inning with a single and singles by Kaczanowski and Jagger Smith would load the bases. Adam Woodworth would then single scoring Queal and Kaczanowki to increase the lead to 3-0. However, in the top of the third inning the Twins would get on the scoreboard. Sierra Burke was walked and would come around to score on a triple by D.J O’Geen. O’Geen would then be knocked home by Grady Gilligan making the score 3-2 in favor of the Indians. In the bottom half of the 4th inning the Indians would increase their lead to 4-2 after Noah Kaczanowski tripled and scored on a RBI single by Jagger Smith. However, in the top half of the 5th the Twins would mount a rally. Sierra Burke led off the inning with a single and scored on a RBI double by D.J. O’Geen. O’Geen would then score on a RBI double by Grady Gilligan and Gilligan would himself later score on a RBI groundout by Joey Reschke giving the Twins a 5-4 advantage. The score would remain unchanged heading to the bottom of the 6th with the Indians needing to rally. Noah Kaczanoski got things started with a single to center and Jagger Smith followed with a single. Kaczanowki then scored on a RBI groundout by Adam Woodworth to tie up the game. Austin Bogue and Cam Wilson were then both intentionally walked to load the bases. Zach Samis then stepped to the plate and drew a bases loaded walk, scoring Jagger Smith for the game winning run. For the Indians, Adam Woodworth went the distance on the mound, scattering 7 hits and striking out 5. For the Twins, Holden Sullivan went 2 innings, allowing 3 runs and striking out 6. Grady Gilligan pitched 1 inning and Liam Grayson went 3 innings, allowing 3 runs with 5 K’s. Offensively, the Indians we led by Noah Kaczanowski with 4 hits and 4 runs scored. Jagger Smith added 3 hits and an RBI. Adam Woodworth had 2 hits and 4 RBI’s. Austin Bogue and Deacon Queal also added hits while Cam Wilson and Zach Samis each reached base twice (2 BB each). For the Twins, D.J O’Geen had two hits (3B, 2B), 2 RBI and 2 runs scored while Grady Gilligan also had 2 hits and 2 RBI’s. Carter Page, Liam Grayson and Sierra Burke also added hits for the Twins. Yankees 5 Orioles 3 The home team Orioles started the game with Pitcher Luke Lathan on the mound. Lathan made quick work of the visiting Yankees striking out 2 batters and forcing a ground out to a third. Jude Sherman would get a hit for the Yankees and steal second but was left on base. Wyatt Draper got the start on the mound for the Yankees and would give up a leadoff double to Chase Cummings. Cummings would be left on base after three straight put outs by the Yankee defense. In the top of the second Luke Lathan would allow one hit a double to Jayce Panepento before striking out 3 batters and stranding Panepento at second. The O’s would get 2 hits in the second from Aidan Weaver and Jeremiah Sheehan. Jude Sherman took over the pitching duties and struck out the last batter of the inning stranding Weaver and Sheehan on second and third. After 2 innings the score remained 0-0. In the third Cam Riggi would put down a perfect bunt and reach base safely. The O’s defense stayed strong and Riggi was left on base. The O’s would get on the scoreboard in the 3rd After Luke Lathan and Jayce Jedrewski both singled and scored in the inning. Luke Lathan would strike out 2 batters in the 4th to hold the Yankees scoreless. Jude Sherman now on the hill for the Yankees would return the favor striking out 3 batters in the bottom half of the inning to keep the O’s off the board. After 4 complete innings the O’s 2 Yankees 0. TheYankees would come alive in the 5th after Jake Higgins lead off with a single, stole second and then stole third base. Cam Riggi then drew a walk, Jude Sherman singled, Wyatt Draper drew a walk, and then Connor Elmore singled. With the bases loaded Jayce Panepento stepped to the plate and blasted a 3 RBI triple to the fence scoring Sherman, Draper and Elmore. Cam Riggi would also score in the inning to put the Yankees up 4-2. The O’s would get one back in the bottom of the fifth after Braydon Chase singled and scored in the inning.
