LeRoy Pennysaver & News
LE ROY PENNYSAVER & NEWS - SEPTEMBER 1, 2019 Submitted by Robert Stiles LeRoy Junior Knights take step 1. The LeRoy Junior Knights started their season off with a dominant 31-0 win over Geneseo in the opening game. The Junior Knights goal is to get the Trophy Back in The Barbershop. It currently rests in Bath NY, despite Leroy’s 8-6 win over them last season in the home opener. Unfinished business for sure! David Wojtaszczyk (Wojo) knows where the TROPHY belongs as he started the defense off with 2 consecutive tackles for a loss. Brennan Webber, who beats mean people up on his way to fights also remembers 2018. Weber along with his new teammate Mathew “Baby Gronk” McCully doesn’t know how bad it hurts as he just misses a fumble recovery on the next play that forced Geneseo to punt. LeRoy’s opening possession was a physical display of high level football that was led by the RED 1 line of Brennan Weber, Anthony “ROOT- BEER” Warner, Wojo, Jake Kochmanski, Carter Page (CP) and Benito “Road Dog” Bautista. “Touchdown” Tommy Clifford took the first hand off behind Jude Christ’s de-cleating block for 23 yards. Two plays later, Christ busts outside for a 19 yard TOUCHDOWN! Clifford and Austyn Silvernail led the downfield blocking as Silvernail adds on the extra point with an athletic run. LeRoy 7-0. Geneseo is forced to punt again on its next possession after Silvernail and “Baby Gronk” McCully send Geneseo for negative yardage. LeRoy wastes little time as Christ gallops 37 yards behind Weber, Silvernail, Clifford and the rest of the RED 1 line. The extra point was unsuccessful and Leroy Leads 13-0. Geneseo unable to solve the swarming defense of the LeRoy Junior Knights is forced to punt after Nicholas Lentine and Jacob Keller attack the interior. Keller (in full trucker effect) singlehandedly stopped the Geneseo running back for a 5 yard loss. Jaxson Cook made his presence felt at Safety by thudding the receiver for a short gain. “Touchdown” Tommy Clifford and his pal Austyn Silvernail both have 16 yard runs to set up 1st & Goal for the Junior Knights. Ryder Stiles follows his center Jake Kochmanski and his long time friend Carter Paige for a 4 yard TOUCHDOWN! Stiles then flicks to “Baby Gronk” McCully for the PAT and LeRoy leads 20-0. The gritty LeRoy D, forces another punt to get RED 2 DREW into a 2 minute offense. Drew “Brees” Beachel, Roland “Stiff-Arm” Goodenough & Ryan Crissy believe the future is now as they are fearless in moving the football behind the “Renegades” of Luke Offen, “Nasty” Hubbard & newly acquired via trade from York, Nicholas Porcelli. Beachel throws what seems like a 50 yard rocket on a frozen rope to “Baby Gronk” McCully as the half expires. LeRoy 20-0. The 2nd half would see the Junior Knights fumble away a scoring opportunity. On defense Carson “Nutter” Stiles dove on a loose ball as if he were “Superfly Jimmy Snuka” and saved his teammate some heartache. Andreas Condidorio would take advantage of the fumble recovery from “Superfly Nutter” and cash in with a 2nd effort, 5 yard TOUCHDOWN behind Kochmanski and company. Kicking sensation, Anthony “Root-Beer” Warner’s PAT kick just misses. LeRoy 26-0. Geneseo, still trying to generate offense goes to the air and finds limited success. Nate Pangrazio and Jude Christ do not flinch in pass coverage. Christ just misses an Interception that needed instant replay. Ryder Stiles wouldn’t leave it up to replay as he channeled himself into 2013’s Richard Sherman and intercepts Geneseo’s pass. Stiles then zips a TOUCHDOWN to “Baby Gronk” McCully and LeRoy leads 31-0 after kicking sensation “Rootbeer” Warner misses the PAT into the heavy swirling winds. Micheal Warner, John Bogan and Jax Nichols would contribute to the victory and look to lead the Junior Knights to 2-0 as they verse 1-0 Hornell on the fast turf this Sunday @ noon.
