LE ROY PENNYSAVER & NEWS - SEPTEMBER 29, 2019 Submitted by: Robert Stiles Caledonia NY: The Junior Knights took step 4 in their quest to get the Trophy back in Joe’s Barbershop by smothering the Cal-Mum/Byron-Bergen Raiders this past Saturday night. Redemption, along with fast, smart, physical football was the narrative headed into the RT 5 battle. LeRoy, 3-0 against Cal-Mum-BB (2-1) with more to prove than just football. The new plush artificial turf along with perfect, late summer weather made for a great weekend for Rivalry football. The RED 1 line with Webber, “Rootbeer” Warner, Wojo, CP and “Road-Dog” Bautista don’t like Cal-Mum. They don’t care for the team that bested them last year. They don’t like the round-a- bout, the slow testy speed limit, the sun in their fans eyes, and they prefer LeRoy’s Pizza Land over Caledonia’s Pizza Land. LeRoy’s Pizza Land must be superior because it says “Best Pizza Anywhere” right on the box. This angst was evident in drive one . RED1 - with their brothers, (Jake Kochmanski & Mathew McCulley) who have much less disdain for Cal- Mum, went into hurry up mode. “Touchdown” Tommy Clifford starts off the party with a 20 yard zipper. Ryder Stiles then shoots a laser to Jude Christ for 15 yards. Anthony “Rootbeer” Warner is pounding his chest and opponents once again. The rivalry is real and so is RED 1 LINE. On play # 9 “TOUCHDOWN” Tommy Clifford takes it 6 yards for........ wait for it, TOUCHDOWN! Junior Knights. LR 6-0. Cal-Mum on drive #1 is crushed by the “California Kid” Brennan Weber. Weber then invites Roland Goodenough and Nate Pangrazio to his backfield party. Pangrazio is new to the backfield party. Nate is giving more, and has more to give, seems nearly rabid and crazy. Nate Dog even invited his brother David Wojtaszczyk “Wojo”to the party. Cal-Mum is forced to punt. The LeRoy Junior Knights are feeling cocky and get physical with two inside runs. Jude Christ gallops for 20 yards behind Matthew McCully’s block. Then Ryder Stiles drops a dime into McCully for a 15 yard TOUCHDOWN! “Baby Gronk” McCully doesn’t spike it like Rob Gronkowski but he sure does play the part well. McCully’s classmate, “Rootbeer” Warner adds the 2 point kick and LeRoys is owning RT 5. LR 14-0. Back on Defense the “Cali- kid” Weber is chill and does what he do best - crush ball carriers for -6 yards. Nutter Stiles isn’t the “Cali-kid” but he was born lucky and throttles the Running Back for -7 yards. Nate Pangrazio’s invite for “Wojo’s” backfield party is paying off. Wojo nearly takes the handoff and clubs for -2 yards. The problem with “Wojo” at the party is he won’t leave. David will overstay his welcome into the raiders backfield and he will drink every juice box, make a mess and pick you up after he knocks you down. Wojo is a thirsty, 1 man wrecking ball that destroys offenses and opposing coaches schemes and dreams. Cal-Mum’s 3rd possession was met by Nick Lentine. “The Cowboy” gets up and stands up the ball carrier for -5 yards. Jake Kochmanski is playing center like an All-Pro shows he can D up too. Kochmanski with the contain stop is on point as usual. McCully picks up for “Cali-kid” Weber who then resets and dunks the offender for -7 yards on 4th down. The Junior Knights take over on their own 9 yard line with the Nichols Sprinkle. 1st & goal is pretty cool field position. “Touchdown” Tommy Clifford can hear the fans chanting his name takes it behind Nichols for the TOUCHDOWN! LR 20-0 halftime. Cal-Mum started the 3rd stanza with their best sustained drive of the afternoon thanks to some penalties and a timely run. Jon Bogan, Nicholas Porcelli, Austyn Silvernail and party crasher “Wojo” bend and don’t break to hold off any hope for the Raiders. Roland Goodenough & Andreas Condidorio make brilliant plays that forces Cal- Mum into desperation mode. The Junior Knights love the turf and start driving with Austyn Silvernail passing to “Baby Gronk” for 16 yards. Jude Christ is running hard behind Jacob Keller and the line is adjusting on their own. From 13 yards out “Touchdown” Tommy closes the door and cashes in with a 13 yard TOUCHDOWN! Clifford owes Christ & Road Dog Lamborghini’s . LR 26-0. LeRoy Junior Knights are in cruise control and taking both lanes of the RT 5 corridor through Limerock. Jaxson Cook knows it’s not a race. Ryan Crissy knows that Micheal Warner is angry. Luke Offen and Nasty Hubbard know that when the young Warner brother is mad you better move out of the way. Micheal’s ESPN 30 for 30 “Holding My Own” is set to debut in 2036 cashes in on his 3rd run of the season for a TOUCHDOWN! LR 32-0 The Junior Knights would wind down the clock to end the game on offense behind Ryan O’Geen and Drew “Cosmic Brownie” Beachel. “Cosmic Brownie” had a TD called back and almost hit again as time expired. LR 32-0 The 4-0 Junior Knights open up a 4 game home span this Saturday against Warsaw @ 6pm. LeRoy Youth Junior Knights
