Mary Margaret Ripley presented our program today explaining how her business of selling vintage, and collectibles on line works. Going through Etsy, Mary Margaret sells collectibles such as dishes, vases, silverware and other items under Red Mill Vintage and New. Vintage items are considered to be 1990 and older. She looks for collectibles at garage sales, Good Will stores and other avenues. Her business is time consuming, making sure pieces are measured, priced and catalogued. On this site, she is able to see how many views she has had, along with how many customers. Etsy will tell you the shipping amount, and calculate the sales tax. Mary Margaret is able to carry on conversations with customers through this site. This is a great way to supplement income while having lots of fun doing it. Etsy charges a 3% fee when an item sells. As fine and delicate some of the items are, Mary Margaret encourages people to use their collectibles and enjoy them. Remember to like us on Facebook at Rotary Club of LeRoy.
