LE ROY PENNYSAVER & NEWS - SEPTEMBER 29, 2019 LeRoy Youth Football Flag Division Highlights Submitted by: Denise Simcick The local rivalry between LeRoy and Caledonia continued last Saturday afternoon as the Knights and Raiders flag divisions met and took to the field. Fans from both towns cheered loudly as each cheerleader and flag players name were announced, then the action got under way. LeRoy’s Red squad started on defense with quick action by Anthony Price and Brody Stogsdill who both made big stops during the first quarter, grabbing Raiders flags left and right. As the raiders tried to make their way down the field, Leroy’s red defense was strong with Dominic DeJesus leading his team in “tackles”. Eonjay Robinson and Jaiden Biletskiy each showcased their own blocking and flag grabbing skills throughout the first half. As the game continued, LeRoy Knights offense came out strong with Connar Hanley highlighting his rushing talents, moving Leroy down the field with several solid runs and with help from Bryce Breemes long run down the right, put the Red squad in a position to score. With smooth handoffs from quaterback Anthony Price to Brody Stogsdill and Mason Ball, Knights offense excitedly celebrated each of their scores!! LeRoy Knights Black Squad was game ready when the time clock started with Trenton Alford making a long, strong run up the right field. The Black squads offensive line made up of Donovon Jones, Teagen Kazmierczak, and Diesel Jones showed their strength and skills this week with strong blocks throughout the game, helping their team advance down the field to score in the first half! The Black Squad Quarterbacks, Brody Wilson and Logan Corcimiglia highlighted their new handoff skills with trick plays to running backs, Nathan Conte and Brianna Porcelli, who ran like the wind down field scoring for LeRoy Knights! With Raiders tough offense on the field, Black squad’s defense were ready for the challenge and worked hard every play to make big stops, including “tackles” made by Trenton Alford and Brianna Porcelli during the second half.
