It was a chilly day for the fans but perfect football weather for the players. LeRoy won the toss and chose to defer to the 2nd half. LeRoy kicked off to Avon to start the game. LeRoy’s Dawson Wojtaszczyk was able to get to the ball before the Braves and jumped on it giving the Knights good field position at Avon’s 40- yard line to start the game. LeRoy’s offense marched down the field to Avon’s 5-yard line. With a penalty and a botched play, the Knights turned the ball over on fourth down at Avon’s own 5-yard line. Avon’s first possession started off in shotgun formation. The Brave’s handed it off only to get tackled in the end zone resulting in a safety. LeRoy 2- Avon 0 LeRoy would have good field possession at the 50- yard line to start their second offensive series. LeRoy’s would yet again march down the field into the red zone only to have the ball intercepted and ran back for a pick six touchdown. Extra point failed. LeRoy 2 - Avon 6 LeRoy’s offense wouldn’t make the same mistake twice. Again, they started on the 50- yard line. It would take LeRoy seven plays to allow Dawson Wojtaszczyk to score on a one- yard run. Kaczanowski PAT successful. LeRoy 10- Avon 6 On Avon’s next possession they barely moved the ball thanks to outstanding defensive series from Grady Gilligan, Colin “Taz” Kazmierczak, Jacob Bowman, Cam Riggi and Joey Reschke. Avon was forced to punt on fourth down. With under two minutes left in the half LeRoy had 41 yards to go into the end zone. The offense led by Brady McClurg pushed the ball down field while managing the clock. It ended with a 23-yard touchdown by McClurg as he scampered into the end zone as the half ended. PAT was successful. LeRoy 18 – Avon 6 The second half was uneventful. LeRoy’s offense used up most of the clock in the 4th quarter as they worked their way down the field. LeRoy’s defense shut down Avon and they weren’t able to move the ball much. The final score was LeRoy 18- Avon 6 LeRoy’s defense dominated the game. Defensively Colin Kazmierczak and Brady McClurg led the team in tackles with 8 a piece. Jacob Bowman had 5 tackles and a sack. Joey Reschke also had 5 tackles.
