LE ROY PENNYSAVER & NEWS - OCTOBER 20, 2019 LeRoy Youth Junior Knights Football Submitted by: Robert Stiles The LeRoy Junior Knights took step 7 of 9 in their quest to bring the trophy back to Joe’s Barbershop. The 6-0 Junior Knights against the 3-3 Avon Braves on a wonderful early fall Sunday afternoon. The Avon Braves started on offense in their modern green fade to white jerseys and bright green Speedflex helmets. Looking great on play 1 they meet up with some familiar brothers in Wojo, Nutter, Nail & Jude- no gain. On play 2, Roland Goodenough, Nutter and Silvernail attack - no gain. On play 3, “Cali-kid”, teams up with Austyn & Jude for + 7 yards. Avon is for real and playing tough. On 4th & 3 the Braves test the edge & Nutter Stiles leads the ball carrier into the welcoming arms of Jude Christ. LeRoy’s ball on in their own territory. Christ is beating his chest, roaring for more. “Touchdown” Tommy Clifford & Austyn Silvernail are shopping for Christmas early for Jude Christ & the Red 1 line. The interior line of Anthony “Rootbeer” Warner, David Wojtaszczyk “Wojo” , Jake Kochmanski, Carter Page (CP), and Benito “Road Dog” Bautista all want high end gifts for their efforts. “Road Dog” wants gold chains. Jude Christ wants to sing a duet with Steven Tyler to change the lyrics back to Dude, instead of Jude looks like a lady. Wojo wants a touchdown. CP wants his brand new baby sister to clean his room. Rootbeer wants to pancake opponents and stand over-top of them. And Jacob Kochmanski wants to block everybody en route to bringing the Trophy that has been in Bath NY for 2+ years. Clifford & Silvernail deliverer early behind Jude & Red 1 line. Ryder Stiles showing Matthew McCulley why they should be all CYFL 1st team, hook up for 14 yards. Silvernail sets up his brother Ryder Stiles for a 5 yard TOUCHDOWN! Nail with a nifty run and the block on #15 allows LeRoy a 6-0 lead. The Braves go back to work and find trouble with “Road- Dog” Bautista and Micheal Warner. Roland, Nutty & McCulley force a punt and the Braves can’t get on track. The Junior Knights are feeling cocky and strong get ahead of themselves on drive #2 and fail to score for only the 3rd time all season. Turn-over on downs. Clifford & Silvernail are scurrying to find return receipts. The Black & Red Defense thwarts the Braves for -4 & -5 behind “The Cookie Monster”, Jaxson Cook. Jaxson roars “Me want Cookie, Me eat cookie...Om nom nom nom.” Avon Braves are brave enough to punt to Matthew McCully. That backfires when “Baby G” returns it for 24 yards to midfield. The -8 net for the Braves sets up Red 2 Drew led by Micheal Warner, Ryan O’Geen, Nicholas Porcelli, Luke Offen, Ryan Crissy and hot shot QB, Drew “Cosmic Brownie” Beachel. “Cozzy B” feeds Jude Christ on a Sunday and it’s almost unfair when Christ breaks 4 tackles en route to a 43 yard TOUCHDOWN! LR 12-0. Nate Pangrazio lays the smack down for -9 and Avon is thinking let’s get back home at eat some Tom Wahl’s. Avon punts again. LeRoy now feeling mean goes to the beef package. Nick “Cowboy” Lentine & Jacob “Truck” Keller step in for Bautista &Weber who are in the backfield with Christ. Nearly 300lbs of bone beef coming at ya with anger in their eyes. It makes the Braves want to exit east down the rt 5 corridor, burn some rubber around 2 Round- A-Bouts and hide under their beds with a flashlight while singing Neil Diamond songs. Christ starts it with 15 yards and then Benito Bautista shows Clifford & Silvernail that he is 24 carat gold worthy. “Road-Dog” bangs for 7, 4 & 10 yards....TOUCHDOWN! Ro- diggity- Ro-doubt! “Rootbeer” adds the PAT & LeRoy is cruising 20-0. Halftime. Jaxson “Cookie Monster” recovers a fumble. “Me love to take ball on ground - keep calm & eat cookies”. The LeRoy offense is back in the hunt and playing for the CYFL North Division title with a victory, is knocking on another score. Trading places staring Dan Akroid & Eddie Murphy occurs inside the Junior Knights huddle when David Wojo heads to Quarterback & Ryder Stiles takes his place at guard. Wojo has been taking snaps for 3 weeks in preparation for this moment. David is the only player on the roster that can handle Jacob Kochmanski’s NFL style snap besides Stiles, follows CP, Jake and his Trading Places brother for his first TOUCHDOWN! LR 26-0. Andreas Condidorio would tack-on another score late in the game for his 2nd TD of the year. TOUCHDOWN! LR 32-0 over a very good Avon Braves Team that played with class despite being overwhelmed. With the win the LeRoy Junior Knights automatically qualify for the CYFL Championship in 2 weeks against the 2x - reigning, defending Bath-Haverling Rams. After the game Jaxson Cook had this to say after his best performance to date. “Me wasn’t born with name Cookie Monster. It just nickname dat stuck. Me don’t remember me real name… Maybe it was Sidney?“ The Junior Knights look to finish their season undefeated when the test themselves against the York Knights this Sunday @ Hartwood Park
