LE ROY PENNYSAVER & NEWS - OCTOBER 27, 2019 LYFC Flag Football & Cheer Highlights Submitted by: Denise Simcick LeRoy’s 2019 Youth Flag Division seasons came to an end last Sunday, October 20th at beautiful Hartwood Park. Fans packed the bleachers as the cheerleaders and players were announced and ran out onto the field one last time this year. After the cheerleaders met the York Golden Knights squad at half-field for hello cheers, the players took to the field, ready for action. As LeRoy’s red squad started the first half, they proved tough to handle for York, with Anthony Price highlighting his speed and agility with several strong runs followed by two touchdowns! Red Squads, Connar Hanley showed off his quick feet and moves with an amazing 30 yard run in for a touchdown. This team couldn’t be stopped in the second half either, with Dominic DeJesus getting in on the action with another strong 30 yard run down the field for another Knights touchdown!! With the bold rushing skills of Brody Stogsdill and Jaiden Biletskiy as quarterback, Leroy’s red squad dominated both halves on offense and were unstoppable as they ran in touchdowns throughout the game. On defense, Mason Ball took charge, highlighting his strength with outstanding blocks on the offensive line all game, while his team mate Bryce Rumsey-Breemes lead his team in “tackles” with 5 flags throughout the game. Red squads, Eonjay Robinson has been strong rusher and offensive linemen all season!! When the game clock ran out, the Red Squad celebrated their victory with their amazing coaches, Coach Hanley, Coach Rumsey, and Coach Price. LeRoy’s Black Squad was ready for action too!! Offensively, Brianna Porcelli and Nathan Conte were unstoppable, with lightning fast runs down the field and touchdowns throughout the game! The smooth handoff skills and trick plays called by quarterback’s Brody Wilson and Logan Corcimiglia were too much for the York Golden Knights to handle, especially when rushers Diesel Jones and Trenton Alford were given the ball and made their way down the field! One crowd favorite was the smooth double reverse, allowing for another LeRoy Knights touchdown! On defense, linemen Donovon Jones and Teagan Kazmierczak showed off their raw strength and blocking skills with tackles and blocks that stopped York throughout the game. As their final game came to an end, the Black squad was joined by their dedicated coaches, Coach Wilson, Coach Jones, and Coach Mann who met them on the field to congratulate them on a great season!! Both squads will be celebrating their well-played season at LeRoy Youth Football & Cheer’s Family Fun Night and Awards next Tuesday, October 29th at 6pm in the WSS Trigon Gym! That night, we will also be recognizing the dedication of each of LeRoy’s Cheerleading Divisions as we support them with Pep Rally before they head off to competition in Letchworth next Saturday, November 2nd.
