LE ROY PENNYSAVER & NEWS - NOVEMBER 17, 2019 LeRotary Notes The Rotary Club of LeRoy met on November 6th at St. Ann’s Community at the Greens. The St. Ann’s Staff were wonderful hosts as always. Rotarians continue to be a busy bunch. For Announcements, Marcia McKenzie thanked Tammy Arneth and Betsy Halverson for taking care of the mums on Wolcott Street. President Mary mentioned that the Rotary Club of LeRoy will be donating $500.00 to the “Shop with a Cop” program which will take place on December 7th. Samantha Vagg announced that Interact and Early Act will again be helping with “Stuff the Cruiser” on November 30th. Betsy Halverson and Jim Ellison are organizing Rotary’s Thirsty Thursday event on November 14th at the American Legion. Missed meetings were reviewed with Jim Ellison, Tim Moag, Samantha Vagg, and Jim Bonacquisti all having absences. Tim Moag brought President Mary a photo of the Rotary club in Volterra, Italy. Jim Bonacquisti was doing his final leaf pickup and Sam and Jim were guilty of work and family obligations. Fines were levied on several Rotarians who were good sports and took it all in jest. Bob Sullivan was fined for being seen leaving Charles Men’s Shop last week. He was asked if they sold him more shorts, his typical attire! Marcia McKenzie was fined for getting special treatment at the Greens, they always have a diet coke waiting for her! She also shared that her Grandson, Max is having a great year running at college. Tim Moag was fined for his awesome trip to Italy. He was shown partaking in a cooking class! Phil Plossl was fined for a picture showing him having a tea party with his sweet adorable Granddaughter. Jim Ellison was fined for a picture showing him trick or treating with his also sweet and adorable Granddaughter. The guest speaker was Heather Grant from Dublin Corners Brewery in Linwood. Heather was introduced by Mary Margaret Ripley. Heather, with her husband Justin, is the owner of Dublin Corners Brewery in Linwood. She reported that in 2008 they started growing hops, and in 2013 they opened for business as a Brewery. They just recently opened up a tap room in Geneseo. They have 9 taps, with 7 home brews, 1 rotating guest tap, and a local cider. Justin is the brew master and a good one he is! Their Amber Ale, named Better Red than Dead, won a gold metal in the NYS Amber Ale category and a bronze metal for the best NYS beer.
