Bagpipes, Holiday cookies, Wassail Bowl Punch, Community Caroling will top off our evening. Come one and all. Public is invited. LCCP Backpack Program The LCCP Backpack Program would like to say thank you to the churches and community members who have supported this effort. Thank you to all the volunteers who pack the backpacks each week and Thank you to the First Baptist church for securely housing the supplies and to the school for facilitating the distribution of the backpacks. The LCCP Backpack program began in October 2006. The purpose of the program is to ensure that no child in the LeRoy School district will be hungry over the weekend. As Jim Thompson, the Wolcott Street school principal at the time, said, “Children should come to school on Monday hungry to learn, not hungry.” Since then we have provided food for hundreds of children, at risk for hunger, every weekend during the school year. Currently, 21 backpacks are being filled. This represents 59 children and usually the need builds through the year. Last year at the peak there were 36 backpacks for 87 children. It only cost $10.00 to fill a backpack.
