Then it was for her appointment as a City of Batavia firefighter, and now it is with her appointment as a NYS fire instructor. All while maintaining her active status as a LeRoy volunteer fire- fighter. Congratulations Christi- na! I also want to publicly thank our NYS Senator, Mike Ranzenhofer, who recently an- nounced his retirement at the end of 2020. I got to know Sen- ator Ranzenhofer well and he certainly benefitted LeRoy with many thousands of dollars in grant funds for water districts and ambulance vehicles. His office was always available to help. As I help transition incom- ing Supervisor Jim Farnholz, I have had the opportunity to reflect what the TB and town staff have been able to accom- plish over the last eight years, and look forward to Jim and his team making further improve- ments: 1. Our historic and commu- nity celebrations- How fun was our bicentennial celebration? Our steam shovel park and res- toration is moving along. And I’ll never forget our America’s Best Communities run! 2. Information and trans- parency- I hope the Around Town columns have been infor- mative and our expanded web site provides the necessary in- formation residents and visitors need, including board meeting agendas and minutes. 3. Strategic Planning- Not always the most glamorous, but very important that our main blueprint, the Comprehensive Plan, and our regulations that flow from such, the Town Code, have been updated and are con- sistently reviewed. 4. Economy- Lots of hard work have established stable tax rates, fine audit reviews, a com- mercial park, the sale of the old dump, and some new streams of revenue. 5. LeRoy Ambulance firm- ly established as a communi- ty-desired resource. Of course, as with any lead- ership group/position, there are always difficult topics to grap- ple with too- But, as I take down the poster from my town office that I first placed up thirty years ago in my school office- What Is Popular Is Not Always Right!
