With both teams coming off a win last week confidence was running high on both ends. With the Lakers having arguably the best defense in the league and the Bulls being a tough physical team as well, this was sure to be an exciting match-up. Both teams were short on players this week as the Lakers were missing John Amico and Graham Pawlick while the Bulls were without Dominic DeJesus, Cam Weber and Logan Corcimiglia. The game started out very close in the beginning with the Lakers’ Nate Conte starting up the scoring with a nice mid range shot. That was followed up shortly by Ben “Benny Buckets” Biracree who nailed down a shot from inside the lane to give the Lakers an early lead. Cole “Cray Cray” Cray provided some offense for the Bulls with a nice pull up jumper that found the bottom of the net on the other side of the court. Scoring came at a premium for both teams as Blake Fetzer put in a nice put back for a bucket for the Lakers and Jackson Hubbard answered back for the Bulls with a basket of his own. Again, the theme of the first half was defense as Aiden Weise provided some great hustle and tight coverage for the Bulls while Wyatt “Whip” Whipple proved to be a dominating force in the middle for the Lakers. The Lakers ended the first half with a 11-6 lead. The second half of the game saw the offenses of both teams comes to life. Lakers guard Dylan Loftus got his shot going by scoring 6 second half points. Blake “Sweet Tea” Biracree who was quiet in the first half poured in 4 points for the Lakers and also ripped down a team leading 8 rebounds. The Bulls’ Kipton Cone used his outstanding defense and 3 rebounds to keep the game tight. Carter McClurg did his part on offense for the Bulls with 4 points of his own in the second half to go along with a team high 7 rebounds, while Andrew Sibley couldn’t get the ball to drop but played great defense to keep his team in the game. In the end it was Sammy “Little Kobe” Bogue scoring 6 of his team high 10 points in the second half to go along with his 6 rebounds that led the team to a big victory. The Lakers were led by Sammy Bogue with 10 points. Other contributors were Dylan Loftus with 6 points, Blake Biracree with 5 points, Nate Conte, Blake Fetzer and Ben Biracree with 2 points each. The Bulls were led by Carter McClurg with 6 points. Other contributors were Cole Cray with 4 points and Jackson Hubbard with 2 points. CELTICS vs KNICKS The second game of the night pitted the Celtics vs the Knicks. With both teams coming off of a loss last week each team was fired up to right the ship. Much like the first game, both teams played with some key contributors missing. The Knicks were playing without offensive playmakers Harrison Porter and Lucas Miller, while the Celtics were playing without key defensive players Gunner Humphrey, Weston Humphrey and Joey Wujcik. The Celtics got off to a hot start in the first half. Robert Humphrey came up huge hitting multiple shots on fast breaks as he scored 6 points in the first half. Brody “Professor” Wilson was wheeling and dealing providing multiple assists and Quinton “Q” Ianni anchored a Celtic defense that was absolutely relentless. The Knicks offense started off slow but then Landon “Kacz” Kacznowski got them on the board with a nice put back shot from beneath the basket. Connor Hanley came up big on the boards as he provided 3 rebounds in the first half alone for the Knicks. Eli “Skull” Fortuna had some nice looks at the basket and put up some great shots but just c ouldn’t get them to drop, while Preston Heschke led the defense for the Knicks as they tried to keep the game close. At the end of the first half the Celtics led the Knicks 22-4. Thomas “Tommy Guns” Englerth was determined to get his Knicks team back in the game in the second half as he put not only put some points on the board but came down with a team leading 6 rebounds. Zack Pocock went off in the second half for the Celtics, scoring on multiple fast breaks accounting for 8 of his season high 12 points. Meanwhile Ben Cashin “Cashed In” from outside the paint for 2 points of his own. The Knicks where not about to go down without a fight though, as Owen Nichols added 2 points of his own and Killian Connolly provided some great defense for the Knicks in the second half. Ryker “Greek Freak” Vangalio was not about to let last week’s late game loss happen again as he pumped in 18 second half points to go along with his team high 16 rebounds. Vangalio ended the game with a triple double wit h 30 points, 16 rebounds and 11 steals. The Celtics got back to their winning ways with a 52-14 win over the Knicks. Leading the Celtics in scoring was Ryker Vangalio with 30 points. Other contributers were Zack Pocock with 12 points, Robert Humphrey with 8 points and Ben Cashin with 2 points. Leading the Knicks in scoring was Landon Kacznowski with 6 points.
