None of the progress we have obtained could have been done without the great people who support us. I would really like to take this time to mention them, some you see every day, some you may not have known what they do. Clerk Treasurer Sharon Jeary is the straw that stirs the drink and keeps everything moving. Police Chief Chris Hayward, (who was retiring 8 years ago, I talked him into staying), he and his staff do an outstanding job in all aspects of serving and protecting our community. Bob Lathan, Jr. and his staff seem to be on top of everything. This one of those jobs you only notice what needs to be done, or isn’t done jobs, but I always get the response “we can do that” from them. The work Steve Carroll and his staff at the wastewater treatment plant have done is remarkable, we are making a huge investment in this plant in the upcoming years. We are always looking for ways to save money and further protect the environment. These are just the department heads who all run their division of the village and manage the professionals under them who do the day to day heavy lifting. THANK YOU to all. Years ago, Mayor Jim DeLooze said “to run a village you need a good attorney, good engineer, and a good grant writer, we have all. Jake Whiting is our attorney, Clark Patterson Lee our engineering firm, but it is really Rick Henry and Eric Wies who walk us through and advises us. LeRoyan John Steinmetz is our grant writer and his heart goes into every application he writes for us; he understands our needs and has a personal pride in our community that can’t be bought. These are just some of the people who make LeRoy what it is, and there are many, many more who volunteer, serve on boards and just being the positive people who make LeRoy the best place to live. It has truly been my honor and privilege to have been your Mayor for the last eight years, and hope to do it four more years.
