I would like to remind everyone of a few things as we move forward. First of all, the closings and social distancing are being implemented to prevent overwhelming our healthcare system, but more importantly to protect the elderly and those with compromised immune systems. For them this is a very serious and potentially deadly illness. For the rest of us there is an extremely high recovery rate. Please follow the CDC recommendations not only for your own health but to protect those that are most vulnerable. One always hopes that in times like these that the best in people will be revealed, and I am hopeful that this will be the case. Please be aware of the fact that there is no need to panic buy or hoard items. The stores are doing their best to keep up with the unprecedented demand. If we do not panic buy there will be enough for everyone. Now on to some logistics for the Town Office. The Office will be open as normal. We do ask that people try to limit their in person contact and do as much by mail, phone and email as possible and to use the drop box in front of the Town hall. The assessor’s office will be operating remotely. Any questions for them should be left on their voicemail and they will get back to you as soon as they can. The code enforcement officers will still be working with inspections and issuing building permits. However if you need a variance at this time it will have to wait as we are not having planning board or zoning board meetings at this time. Most court matters are being postponed and people should contact the court office for any questions. The food pantry will continue with normal operations Monday through Thursday 10:00am-12:00pm. On a final note, please try to patronize as many of our local businesses as you can. This is going to put a tremendous strain on them. So go ahead and order some takeout or delivery from one of our restaurants. Finally, remember that we are all in this together and if we look out for one another we can look back on this chapter as one of our finer moments. Hoping to see you around town: Jim Around Town LeRoy Women of the Moose The Women of the Moose presented a check for 250.00 to the Le Roy Food Pantry and a check for 250.00 to the Hope Center of Le Roy. The money raised was from their Winterfest event.
