While we have received the go ahead to proceed to phase 1 of the Covid 19 recovery, local government is being faced with how to pay the bills. The county in light of losing funding from the state, (who is 1 of 50 states begging from the federal government for assistance) has told the local towns and villages that they will not be able to share sales tax revenue with them as they have in the past and may actually get none. Quite frankly, in today’s environment there is no way to adjust for this lack of funding and many changes and services may have to be given up. We are early in this problem and there are still a lot of skeletons in the closet. Rest assure that between myself, Supervisor Jim Farnholtz, and County Legislator Shelly Stein and our respective boards, we will work together for the best possible outcome for the total community. Who knows it may be even a better way to do business? We are all committed to working together to make LeRoy come out of this as a fiscally stronger community and continue to be the best place to live and raise children.
