LeRoy Pennysaver & News
LE ROY PENNYSAVER & NEWS - JUNE 7, 2020 Rotary Club of LeRoy To the LeRoy Community, We’re sure you have all missed the normalcy of Rotary’s weekly report, LeRotary Notes. Although very little is “normal”, the Rotary Club of LeRoy continues to meet on Zoom. Rotarians miss the face to face contact with one another but we are doing our best to sustain the fellowship and good will that is such an important tenet of Rotary. Within the guidelines of the State mandated restrictions we are also continuing to provide services to the LeRoy community. LeRoy Rotary Community Kitchen is offering drive thru meals and groceries every Tuesday. The Rotary Club would like to thank the Community Kitchen Board and the volunteers who provide this essential service. Rotary recently donated funds to purchase 10 birdhouses to be placed on the grounds of the LeRoy Village Green. Rotarians cleaned up the point on Wolcott Street and placed flowers there. Replacement of the floor in the LeRoy Community Pool locker room should take place the end of July. The funds for this project were secured through a matching grant with Rotary District 7090. We have also submitted a request to the District for matching funds for a Community Project for next year. More information regarding that will follow once we get approval! The Rotary Milne Committee is working diligently to interview students who have applied for our Milne Scholarship. Rotarians are decorating the old Smoke Shop window with a seasonal theme. Time to get that Easter theme out of the window! Our Community Reinvestment Program is up and running and we recently granted $500.00 to a local business. Even during this pandemic we are installing new members who have a strong desire to give back to their community. We unfortunately have been forced to change or cancel some of our fund raisers and programs. Graze to Raise, our Milne Scholarship fundraiser was cancelled. The Appliance Raffle has been scheduled for October 18th. Our Meet Raffle date is to be determined. And of course, due to the cancellation of the Oatka Festival no Hot Dog Stand. REAL, our free book giveaway which occurs at the Farmer’s Market in the beginning of June, will take place but at a later date in the summer. With the shut down of the school system our High School Interact Program was forced to cancel several of their wonderful programs, Mom Prom, Dad’s Day and the Butterfly Effect Project. Many thanks to the LeRoy Community for continuing to support your local Rotary Club. The Rotary Club of LeRoy is resilient and creative. We will be as strong and active as ever once this moment in time is over. The Rotary Club of LeRoy Thank You. The family of Mary C.
