If you are interested in learning more about the Rotary Club of LeRoy, follow us on Facebook, Instagram, or www. leroyrotary.org. by James Farnholz Supervisor, Town of LeRoy (585) 768-6910 ext. 231 As preparations for Christmas are keeping everyone busy, things at the Town have been quite active as well. On December 10th there was a public hearing on the proposed new commercial solar code. The Board heard from many residents as well as representatives several solar companies. The primary concern was the proposed exclusion of agricultural land from having solar put on it. As a result of this meeting the Board has made some suggestions on possible inclusion of some agricultural land having solar on it and sent it to the planning board. Our original intent was to pass the code at our next meeting (Dec. 28). However, taking into consideration the concerns of residents and the possible rewriting of certain parts of the code, that will not be the case. The hope is to have an amended code by early January and then schedule another public hearing in early February. With Christmas fast approaching, and the Covid pandemic still with us, please observe all of the CDC recommendations to keep you and your family safe. While it may not be exactly the holiday we want it is the one we have for this year. So let’s try to make the best of it and spread Christmas cheer whenever we can. While on the subject of Christmas cheer I want to thank everyone involved in the food pantry as well as all of the donations and gifts that are wrapped and waiting in the town hall. It is truly amazing to see the generosity and kindness of our community. Finally, on a personal note, I want to thank everyone who has helped us navigate 2020 with all of its challenges. To say that my first year as supervisor was interesting would be an understatement. I also want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New year. I hope to see you around town in a more normal 2021. Around Town
