President Mary Margaret Ripley brought the meeting to order. Mary Margaret introduced our guest, Rev. Colleen O’Connor from the St. Mark’s Episcopal Church of LeRoy, and board member of L.C.C.P. Scott McCumiskey led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance. President Mary Margaret asked for announcements. Mike Tucci updated the club on the Big Game TV raffle. Tickets are available. Contact Mike Tucci or pick up at Tompkin’s Bank of Castile. Missed meetings were recognized by President Mary Margaret. Missed meetings were sanctioned to Scott McCumiskey (1), Tim Moag (4), Gerry Aron (2), and Mike Tucci (1). Scott and Mike both had make-ups. Tim and Gerry were fined. A reminder to Rotary members to contact Treasurer Jason Karcher to settle their fines. President Mary Margaret transitioned to the fining session. David Grayson was fined for a picture of one of his grandson’s new ski gear. Mike Tucci was fined for a picture of two of his daughters learning how to put in the house. Jake Whiting was fined for a cute family photo. Jess Strollo was fined for a very old picture from the LeRoy Gazette. The picture was of her husband, Jeff, participating in summer swim lessons. The picture can be located in the LeRoy Gazette from July 12, 1984. President Mary Margaret is also in the picture. Today’s program was about the L.C.C.P. backpack program. Rev. O’Connor explained that 23 families currently participate in the program. Each bag is sent home with enough food for three children. The items are child-friendly, prepackaged food items. These things can easily be made in the microwave. The program relies heavily on food and monetary donations. Bags are sent home each week from September to June. During the summer months, St. Mark’s Church offers a summer lunch program. Superintendent Holly thanked Rev. O’Connor and the entire L.C.C.P. for facilitating this program. President Mary Margaret presented Rev. Colleen with a check from part of the proceeds of our annual “cookie auction.” Rev. O’Connor was very thankful for the generous donation and it will be put to good use. President Mary Margaret adjourned the meeting at 12:50 and thanked everyone for their participation and wished everyone a Happy New Year!
