WOODWARD MEMORIAL LIBRARY Wednesday, January 13 TheWoodward Memorial Library Board of Trustees will be meeting onWednesday, Jan. 13 at 5:00 pm in the Library. by Greg “Porp” Rogers When I began to write an article about 2020. STOP. No need rehashing that year. On to 2021 a year of promise. The COVID-19 19 vaccine is making its way to the people, it will take some time but it is a vital step in getting back to normalcy. It seems we are in full swing battling this virus. The Finger Lakes region and Genesee County are leading the charge for percentage of new cases. We all know what to do, so stay diligent about social distancing, wearing masks and limited gatherings. We are making progress, so let’s work together to get everybody to the other side. We have been blessed so far with very little snow, and hope it continues this way. Shortly the Village Board will be working on the budget for the 21-22 fiscal year. We feel this year, more than any other that a rate increase would be a burden to the tax payers, it is our full intention to keep this year rate the same as last year and will make cuts and take action to accomplish that. Recently, Angelo Steffenella passed away, among the many things Ange did for LeRoy, he served on the Village Board for years. While on the board, no one ever had to wonder what Angelo was thinking, you heard it loud and clear. Sometimes with that big finger pointing at you, so you knew he meant business. I was personally lucky enough to have been there with him. RIP my goomba! The youth movement at the LeRoy Police Department. On Thursday at noon Chief Chris Hayward and Detective John Condidorio will both be retiring from the department on a fulltime basis. Both will be around on a small part time to help with the transition. Almost 70 years of experience is walking out the door and will be sadly missed. Luckily for us we have built a department that is very capable and well trained. They won’t miss a step. Happy New Year to all, stay the course, and stay healthy. Mayor's Corner
