Can you STOP THE MADNESS? We the taxpayers just voted down the Asset Preservation Capital Project less that four months ago. Most of us are working; voting once a year should be enough. How many millions and millions do we have to throw at this school, we're not finished paying for the last $12,000,000 from four or five years ago for the R.I.T.E. Project and now another $16,000,000. Please stop and look what's going on around us, some of highest school taxes in the area, declining school and state population, (leading the nation 2 years in a row), diminishing business opportunities and jobs, and the average cost per student in N.Y.S. at 90% above the national average. You stated in the October proposal the cost of the artificial turf would be approximately the same as natural turf. I did some rough math. Let's see, the cost would be roughly $3,000,000 for both fields, with the life span of 12 years that's 144 months total, only used 1/2 that time (3 months fall & 3 months spring sports per year) = $41,666/month. You mean to tell me that's what we're paying now to maintain two grass fields; if that's true maybe we should look harder at what's going on at the school. The same kids that will be playing on these fields today will be the ones paying in 12 years to replace it, at which time surely the price will be 2 to 3 times more. What about the environmental impact, what's the carbon footprint of manufacturing and disposing of 138,000 sq. ft. of nylon turf, thats 69,000 lbs. (1/2 lb. per square ft.)? Let's talk the cost, you stated in your letter that very little will be added to our school taxes. Please tell me what part of $16,000,000 we aren't paying for; the last time I knew Albany doesn't run a mint; they use our money. Please preserve our future for our kids, our school, and our state. In lieu of what's going on with Covid 19 and the state being totally BROKE; billions and billions in the red it should be common sense; it's not good timing. PLEASE VOTE NO AGAIN ON FEBRUARY 10TH, JUST MAYBE NO WILL REALLY MEAN NO THIS TIME...MAYBE. VOTE NO AGAIN ON FEBRUARY 10 Spend local and enjoy all that our area has to offer! Feel good about the places you support and patron!
