It is really a great night for my wife and I to spend with such dedicated men and women who unselfishly take care of the needs of LeRoy. I will reach out to new Chief Craig Johnson who is replacing Tom Wood as Fire Chief. Tom has done an excellent job running the department and is one of the cornerstones that keep us protected and has for decades. A HUGE thank you to Tom and his family for all the sacrifices they have made for our safety. We are lucky to have the torch passed on to Craig, the seamless transition into the hands of such a competent and devoted person. I have the upmost confidence in his ability and he will make a great chief, Congratulations Craig! This week we are working on the finances for the Wolcott St renovation project that will take place this summer. While it was really nice to have the village have no debt. Now it is time to take on smart debt, with low interest rates for a longer period of time in an effort to keep a stable tax rate. Our wastewater treatment staff won the Charles Walter Nichols award, this usually given to places who made great strides in their process, so it is extremely unlikely to get it 2 years in a row. Congratulations to Steve and his team. Three dedicated people who run our plant: Supervisor Steve Carroll, Andre Carmel and Rob Semmel who do a great job taking care of the whole process. Monday evening, a developer Eric Biscaro, was present at our board with plans for a senior development at the end of East Ave. The Village is very interested in having this project, but now comes the heavy lifting of developing the total plan. It will be reviewed by both our Planning Board and the counties. It would be nice the see residential growth in the village. “It is said that your life flashes before your eyes just before you die.
