Feel good about the places you support and patron! LeRotary Notes The Rotary Club of LeRoy gathered virtually on March 3, 2021, with 18 members present and one guest, Tiffany Goodenough. Tiffany is the owner of The Self-Care Shop here in the village. President Mary Margaret Ripley brought the meeting to order and the pledge by Jason Karcher and the prayer offered by Jim Ellison. President Mary Margaret asked for announcements. Shannon Karcher spoke about two upcoming events. First, Scott McCumiskey will provide a guided hike onApril 25th at 8:30 am at Genesee County Park. Second, on Saturday, May 8th from 8:00 am to Noon, Shred-it will be set up in the parking lot of OrCon. For $10.00 per “banker’s box” size, people can drive-thru with their documents and they will be shredded on-site. This will help the community properly dispose of their confidential documents. This is a great time to begin your Spring cleaning and purging! Jim Ellison also explained how the 50/50 will work virtually. President Mary Margaret also shared the Historical Society will be having a drive-thru dinner on March 27th. The D&R Depot will be doing the meal. Tickets will be available soon. It should be noted the Historical Society wasn’t able to hold their annual event last year and have modified it for this year. They need our support. President Mary Margaret moved onto missed meetings. Noonepresent hadanymissed meetings. President Mary Margaret quickly moved on to fining. Ben Deragon was fined for a Facebook post about how February is our shortest month yet feels like the longest. Mary Young- Murray was fined for a childhood picture of her and her cousins. Mary offered to pay Extra for the picture before President Mary Margaret could issue a fine! Jake Whiting or should we say “Coach Whiting” was fined for being the assistant coach of the basketball team. Coach Whiting is happy to be able to help support and be back on the court. Jake paid a fine for the privilege. Today’s presentation was Tiffany Goodenough from the Self-Care Shop. Tiffany and her husband and children live in LeRoy and have been practicing mental health and self-care for a while now. The continuous need for this became more apparent to Tiffany when the pandemic arrived and her mother’s battle with stage IV lung cancer. After Tiffany’s mom passed she knew she wanted to help support the mental health needs of the LeRoy community and surrounding area. The majority of most of her items in her store are from local vendors. They have been also adding yoga and mindfulness classes. She is excited by all the support.
