LeRoy Pennysaver & News

LE ROY PENNYSAVER & NEWS - MAY 16, 2021 As an EDUCATOR, PARENT, AND LIFETIME RESIDENT, I can bring a complete perspective of the changing needs of children in our community today. I have a strong experience in both education and supporting children outside of the school day. For the last 19 years I have taught in various capacities at Avon Elementary School (kindergarten, third grade, fourth grade, and STEAM coach). I am committed to the education of students of all ages and abilities and know first-hand the challenges that students face today. As a parent of a current fifth grader, Cora, and seventh grader, Aidan, I am personally invested in the quality of education across the district. I have a strong understanding of the need to support children of all physical and academic ability through the perspective of my wife (Sara) who is a school-based occupational therapist, as well as through my own teaching experiences. I am the current DIRECTOR OF LEROY PARKS AND RECREATION and believe in strong school-based and community-based programs for children. I have been involved in coaching Little League, youth soccer and basketball, as well as previously instructing summer science programs through Summer Rec. In my previous role as Chairman of the LeRoy Planning Board, I have gained skills to incorporate the consensus, needs and priorities of the community into strong policies. As a parent and educator, I have the ability to listen to the academic and social-emotional needs of students, as well as the confidence to make decisions that will improve the LeRoy Central School District.
