PO Box 343, Le Roy, NY 14482. by Greg “Porp” Rogers In my last column, I said we will be holding a public hearing at the Memorial Auditorium, on June 16th that however has been canceled. The public hearing will be rescheduled for the SEQR review of a proposed project on East Avenue/South Avenue for a 20-acre parcel development, zone change from a R-1 to PUD. We will give plenty of notice so all can be heard. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused. Villager is beginning to start the Wolcott Street Reconstruction Project. The plan is to try to get this done now, in an effort to be ready for the upcoming school year. There are many hurdles out of our control with getting materials, so please be patient. The Village and Town Boards will be having a joint meeting on June 7th at the Town Hall on Main Street. One of the topics will be the change in the marijuana laws and what it holds for the state and our community. Three LeRoy Police Officers were honored by the Batavian Kiwanis Club. Former Chief Christopher Hayward for his years of service and dedication to LeRoy and Genesee County, Officers Steinbrenner and Wolcott for their heroism and participation in last year’s chase and shoot out with the tractor trailer driver that ended in Geneseo. We congratulate all three who made our community proud! Monday is Memorial Day, it may not be the same as past years, put that does not diminish the gratitude we have for the men and women who have served our country and protected our freedom.
