LE ROY PENNYSAVER & NEWS - AUGUST 15, 2021 Samuel Mockford Leadley diedof cancer on July2, 2020. He was born February 19, 1935, to Edward Mockford Leadley and Pauline Martin Leadley, who lived in Stafford, NY. Sam was predeceased by his older brothers: Edward Martin, Paul Richard and John David Leadley. His sister, Jane Porter Leadley Marchner Dolan, resides in California under her daughter Suzanne’s care. Often introducing himself as “Mr. Esther Leadley” when being a supportive husband, Sam is survived by his wife of 64 years, Esther Guthrie Leadley. Sam is also survived by four sons: Scott of New York City; Paul (Anne Larigauderie) who lives near Paris, France; Peter (Dawn) of Camillus; and John/Jack (Allison McIntyre) of Pittsford.Multiple grandchildren, aswell as numerous nieces and nephews, are scattered widely. Several young greatgrands live in the Syracuse area. Sam loved and encouraged each member of his family. A graduate of LeRoy High School, and an alumnus of Cornell University, Samhad a succession of careers. He was a high school teacher, Cooperative Extension Specialist, Penn State professor, and dairy farmer. For the last 20 years of his life, thanks to experience gained at Noblehurst Farms and support from the Attica Veterinary Associates, Sam became an Internationally-respected consultant to people who raise calves. For good portions of his life Sam was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Stafford, where he felt most at home. Sam also volunteered widely and unselfishly! In everything he did, and wherever he went, Sam intertwined his extraordinary ability as a teacher with his thirst to know more. His passion was to share his many fortunes with others. Graveside services will be held in August at a time yet to be determined. Pleasemake a donation in Sam’s name to a nonprofit organization, a library, or food pantry of your choice. A Celebration of Sam’s Life is planned for August 21st at the Stafford Fire Department Social Hall. You are invited. A light lunch of Sam’s favorite summer foods will be served. Samuel M.
