As such I want to extend a thank you to our recreation staff, lifeguards, Luke Weaver and Becky Elmore for a great summer at the pool and Wildwood Park. In a summer when many pools and recreation programs were cancelled they did a great job offering camps and swimming to the community. While on the subject of the pool, the Town and Village are partnering to tear out the wading pool and have a splash pad built. The Town has committed $150,000 to the project that will come from the American Rescue Plan money we received from the Federal Government. Our goal is for a Memorial Day opening 2022. Many people have asked about the status of water project that would bring water to all of the residents of the Town. The results of the survey we sent out were over 85% positive. We are in the process of finishing the grant application to Rural Development to see what grant and low interest loans are available. Once we have that information we will be able to figure the cost to the individual tax payer in the proposed district. At that time we will have a public hearing to help us determine whether or not to move forward with the project. Unlike other water projects in the past, this project is being brought forward by the Town board and would not require a vote by the public, unless a petition were to be signed by 15% of the people requiring a referendum on the project. With the start of school just a few days away please be aware of students and buses on the streets and adjust your speed accordingly. For those who in the past have ridden unlicensed dirt bikes and mini bikes to school please be aware I have asked the LeRoy police as well as the Sherriff’s department to crack down on this dangerous and illegal activity. Finally, remember that Labor Day is a day to pay tribute to the American worker. Without all of the hard work that all of us put in everyday America would not be the nation it is today. So to all I would like to take this opportunity to say Thank You for all you do, and I hope to see you around town.
