I have read the ongoing articles that exhibit many of the same issues that I and other taxpayers are putting forth. Steve Barbeau was spot on but very generous with his payback analysis by allowing the $85,600 additional tax revenue starting first year. It would be far reaching to think that all this construction including the additional houses to be completed immediately. The payback period as I see it would be more like 20 years. I am also opposed to the addition of more rental units with an abnormally high percentage presently existing. As many others I am also concerned about the traffic implications of the high density housing and the aesthetics of this development on some of the last developable land that might become part of the village. I am not opposed to expansion as long as it is an asset not a detriment as I see this project to be. Let’s act prudently and use the land for more desirable units which would add substantial money into the tax base and become an asset to the village. Another aspect of this project is the water management issue. I have seen the plans for the proposed retention pond deemed by most to be far from adequate. The pictures of last month’s flooding and being part of it (LeRoy CC) have experienced the same. I feel confident that the proposed project will further aggravate the existing flooding of South Street, East Avenue, Orchard Drive, Popular Lane, Mercy Grove and lastly the flooding of the golf course. We have been dealing with the present flooding issues for 30 years and have invested substantial dollars trying to mitigate the existing conditions. Any additional surface water will further complicate the water management issue for the areas with already existing issues. Jim Gomborone Proposed LeRoy PUD project
