With the temperature hovering around 90 for the game, they knew they were in for a long hot battle. The Knight’s first possession of the game ended in a turnover on downs as Wayland’s overpowering defensive line was in Le Roy’s backfield every play. After some back and forth defensive battles, Wayland got on the board first with a nice touchdown run up the left side for a 6-0 lead. On the ensuing drive the Knight’s offense finally started waking up. QB Tarick Vangalio had two long runs to put the Knights in scoring position, with RB Brody Stogsdill capping it off with a short TD run to put Le Roy’s first points on the board and tie it up 6-6. Unfortunately it was all Wayland after that, as the Eagles went on to score 3 more TDs in the game to make the final score Wayland 26 Le Roy 6. Defensive standouts included Diesel Jones, Henry Bleeks, Jace Staskiewicz, Amaeus Largeroy and Austin Branton. The Knights start the season 0-1 and will play Bath in their next contest. Le Roy vs Bath Pee Wee Football The 0-1 Le Roy Pee Wee Oatkan Knights looked to get in the victory column for the first time this year as they squared off against the Bath Pee Wee Rams on Sunday, September 5th. It was obvious from the beginning of the game that this was going to be a defensive battle and points were going to be at a premium. Brody Stogsdill carried the load for the Knights early with some big runs. After some hard fought yards by Stogsdill, the drive was finally capped off by a short Trenton Alford run up the middle for a TD that put the Knights in the lead for the first time this year. Defense was the story for the rest of the half as Le Roy was up 6-0 when the clock ran out in the 1st half. The second half proved to be much like the first as both defenses refused to give in. Le Roy’s only TD in the 2nd half (a TD run by Brody Stogsdill) was nullified by a holding penalty. With only one chance left, Bath scored on their last drive of the game to tie the score 6-6. Le Roy had one more chance to win with 4:00 left in the game, but unfortunately their offense stalled out on their last drive. The final score ended up in a 6-6 tie. Mazzy Beardsley proved that big hits come in little packages with an outstanding defensive game. Other defensive standouts included Tarick Vangalio, Lincoln Cook, Easton Fox and Teagan Kazmierzak. The Knights (0-1-1) next play at GVB on Saturday, September 18th.
