LeRoy Pennysaver & News
LE ROY PENNYSAVER & NEWS - OCTOBER 24, 2021 Bogue had anything to do with it. Bogue took an end around handoff and raced around the left end for 20 yards on the Knight’s next possession for his 2nd rushing TD of the game which allowed Le Roy to take back the lead. Le Roy Coach Joe Bogue is an expert in two things; youth football offenses, and romantic comedies. Bogue decided if it’s not broken, don’t fix it as he dialed up RB Sammy Bogue’s number again on the PAT. A successful attempt fueled by great blocking from Thomas Englerth, Jace Beauchamp, Wyatt Whipple and Blake Biracree, gave the Knights a 20-18 lead in the game. Down by 2, Avon decided to go to the air again after successful attempts earlier. Sammy Bogue decided he had about enough of that, as he intercepted the pass on the 2nd play of the drive and took it back 40 yards for another Knights TD. The PAT was unsuccessful, not not before a huge momentum swinging turn of events put the Knights up 26-18. The Braves were not just going to lie down and go quietly into the night though. They responded with a long drive which consisted of a long 4th down pass conversion, and ended with a short TD. Down by 2, Avon attempted a 2 point extra point kick. John Amico made sure that kick didn’t get by him on the line, which kept Le Roy’s slim 2 point lead 26-24 with a little over two minutes in the game. All Le Roy had to do was wind down the clock in the last two minutes to win the game, but Avon’s defense had other plans as they tightened up, looking to get the ball back. Facing a 4th and long from deep in their own territory, coach Bogue had a big decision to make. Try to get a 1st down and ice the game, or punt and put the trust back in a defense that has struggled as of late. Coach Bogue chose to punt, and after a 20 yard punt by Ryker Vangalio gave the Braves the ball at midfield, the Braves had one more chance to end Le Roy’s perfect season. After two incomplete passes the Braves were down to their last two chances. That’s when Brianna “Stitch” Porcelli came up with a huge interception to seal the victory and also save the Le Roy Junior Knights undefeated season. The final score was Le Roy Junior Knights 26 - Avon Junior Braves 24. Le Roy goes into their last game of the season against Warsaw (Sat 10/23) hoping to finish the regular season undefeated and also hoping to secure a spot in the CYFL Junior Championship game on Halloween. LeRoy Knights Football continued from page 6... I am a candidate for LeRoy Town Council on the Conservative ticket. I believe in faith, family, deregulation, lower taxes, the constitution, and the pursuit of life, liberty, and happiness without governmental interference. Regardless of the governmental entity, we can no longer pay for subsidies, grants or whatever they may call it on a certain day, that allegedly lower our taxes. Taxes never seem to decrease and as a taxpayer I would like to see the government funded money cease as we cannot keep doing this. There must be a better way for the good of the future generations and their debt burden. We just keep kicking the can down the road and our grandchildren and their children will be stuck with the mess we have created. I have owned and successfully managed my construction business (Bill Fox & Son Construction & Remodeling LLC) for 30+ years. My reputation in this business speaks for itself. I know from my business experience the impact governmental overreach has on the average working-class family and individual. I also know how to successfully run a business through relationships, hard work, and doing things the right way. In 2016, I was honored as the recipient of the “LeRoyan of the Year”. I was an early organizer and county chairman for the Genesee County chapter of Scope. I remain commited to Scope’s efforts in support of the second amendment. I have been married to my wife, Anne Marie Merica, for 40 years. We have 3 children – Billy (Mady Moochler), Drew (Andria Naugle), and Marisa (Brad Morgan) as well as 4 beautiful grandchildren – Farrah, Easton, Carson Duke and Callie. I believe I would bring a fresh perspective to the town council. If you want someone that will fight for what is right and not necessarily in unison with the others, I’m your guy. Thank you in advance for giving me the opportunity, it would be an honor to represent you and be your voice on LeRoy Town Council. FOR LEROYTOWN COUNCIL BILL FOX I have lived in LeRoy for almost 40 years, my contributions back to LeRoy include: · Coaching baseball, football & girls soccer. · Assisting the Oatkan Knights football team. · I am currently involved with the trap shooting team for the High School. · Financial support to groups and organizations in LeRoy.
