LE ROY PENNYSAVER & NEWS - OCTOBER 31, 2021 Submitted by Joseph Bogue On Saturday night The LeRoy Junior Knights travelled to Warsaw to take on the Warsaw Junior Tigers. The 7-0 Knights were looking to remain undefeated and lock up the CYFL North division title. Doing so would secure a spot in the CYFL Championship on Halloween. Warsaw won the coin toss and started on offense. The Knights defense welcomed back Ryan Crissy and Dylan Loftus. 2 playmakers they desperately missed. The Tigers started hot picking up a first down and leaning on their superstar Running Back Tavin Shaffer. That's when the Coach VanGalio started looking nervous. After watching his hair line disintegrate in his 20s he was afraid his D line was going to do the same Saturday. Lucky for him the defense was much more resilient. Jace Beauchamp,Blake Fetzer,Cam Weber, Carter McClurg,Ryker VanGalio and Dylan Loftus put an end to the Tigers drive plowing through the offensive line and attacking in the backfield. Now the Knights quick strike offense was coming out and they didn't take long to put points on the board. Cam Montesano,Thomas Englerth, Stone Husted,Jace Beauchamp,John Amico, and Andy Murphy would form the line that dominated all day. On the 2nd play Ryan Crissy did what Ryan Crissy does streaking down the sideline behind some big blocks for a Knight's touchdown. 6-0 Knights The Tigers next drive was stopped after 2 plays when Mason Doran forced a fumble recovered by Thomas Englerth giving the ball back to the Knights. Up 6-0 the offense started moving the ball around. Ryker VanGalio,Blake Biracree, Carter McClurg, and Mason Doran got the drive started and Sammy Bogue finished it with a TD run weaving through the Tigers defense.12-0 Knights When the Knights defense took the field for the 3rd time they had a new look but the same intensity. Brianna Porcelli,Owen Nichols,Maddox Finnin,Cole Cray, and Eonjay Robinson were out to stop the Tigers. After a giving up a first down they put an end to the Tigers hopes of scoring and turned the ball back over to the offense. Now feeling comfortable the Knights offense would go to the air. Ryker VanGalio would stand tall in the pocket knowing Wyatt Whipple,Logan Corcimilia and Cam Montesano would not let the defense get to him. Firing the ball down field to Blake Biracree, Carter McClurg and Ryan Crissy the Knights were marching. Eli Kemp came in and provided some fresh legs for the offense. After the Tigers tightened up on defense Ryan Crissy took matters in to his own hands flying around the end for another Knights touchdown.18-0 Knights. The Tigers would get on the board with their next drive and the first half would end 18-7 The second half started with the Knights offense on the field and they weren't about to let up. Big Ben Biracree now in the game sealing the edge and giving the backs room to run this drive would take up most of the 3rd quarter before Mason Doran lit the crowd up with an electric touchdown run that had even the Tigers fans cheering. 24-7 Knights. The Tigers hoping for a spark on offense came out for their first drive of the second half and would now have to deal with a fired up Jaiden Biletski. After hearing his name numerous times the previous week he was looking to make his mark in this game as well. 4 plays in to the drive the Tigers would fumble the ball away and that mistake would be costly. After 3 big time tackles by the Tigers defense and hopes of keeping the game from getting out of hand the Knights found an opening and Sammy Bogue bursted through it for another Knights touchdown !! 30-7 Knights. With their conversion team going 0-4 up to this point the Knights turned to the speedster Eli Kemp. Taking a hand off from VanGalio, Kemp with no room inside bounced it outside then found himself in a foot race with the Tigers defense. With 3 guys closing in Eli cut in to the end zone for the Knights first conversion of the day !! 31-7 Knights and that's how the game would end. The LeRoy Junior Knights finish the season undefeated at 8-0 and are CYFL North Division Champions !! They will take on the Dansville Junior Mustangs on Halloween in Caledonia for the CYFL Championship. LeRoy Junior Knights Football
