LE ROY PENNYSAVER & NEWS - JUNE 19, 2022 Submitted by Jon Privitera Yankees 14 Red Sox 5 - The Yankees used a 10 run 5th inning to power their way past the Red Sox and into the Scanlan Cup Finals in Little League action with a 14-5 victory. Anthony Warner was the starting pitcher for the Yankees and pitched into the 5th inning allowing no runs, 2 hits, and striking out 11. He picked up his 7th pitching win, and recorded his 100th strikeout of the season in the contest. Jude Christ and Austyn Silvernail relieved Anthony combining to close out the game. The Yankees came to bat in the bottom of 5th inning with a 4-0 lead and put the game out of reach with an explosive 10 run outburst. The first 8 batters of the inning all reached base safely and all 8 would eventually score. The highlights of the inning were Jude Christ blasting his 5th triple of the year, Michael Warner connecting for 2 doubles, and Anthony Warner driving in 4 runs with a double and a 3 run home run. For the day Christ had 3 hits (1 RBI), Michael 2 hits (1 RBI), and Anthony finished with 3 hits and 5 RBI’s. Austin Silvernail, Ryan O’Geen, Blake Biracree, Wyatt Whipple, and Lucas Miller all hit safely for the Yanks with Silvernail, O’Geen, Whipple, and Miller all providing RBI hits in the decisive 5th inning. Colton Halladay led the Red Sox with 2 hits, and Jace Beauchamp added 1 hit. Ethan Rose started for the Red Sox and pitched a strong game recording 5 strikeouts in 2 innings – he was relieved by Paulie Winters and Halladay. LeRoy Little League
