LE ROY PENNYSAVER & NEWS - MAY 14, 2023 Leroy Mens Bocce Ball League Organizational Meeting Thursday, May 18th 10am At The Mill St. Courts For More Info Call: 585-409-5412 To LeRoy Residents: I have been pleased and humbled to represent the LeRoy Central School District as a board member and board president for the past several years. With an amazing administrative staff we have had many great accomplishments. I would greatly appreciate your vote on May 16th in order to continue working for our district, the students and the entire LeRoy community. I thank you in advance for your continued support. Sincerely, Jackie Whiting Around Town by Jim Farnholz Supervisor, Town of LeRoy (585)768-6910 ext.231 As summer approaches there are many preparations taking place. Our recreation department has hired staff and will be posting a calendar of events on their website as well as sending home a brochure home with Wolcott Street school students. Our pool is getting ready to be opened by the Town and Village DPW and the splash pad will be ready and open as well Please check out the Rec. Facebook page as well. I have had many questions as to the status of our town wide water project. Everything from the Town has been done and we are waiting for funding information from Rural Development. When we receive it there will be an informational meeting at the Town Hall. In January a new State Law took effect that would allow any taxing entity to give up to a 10% discount on property taxes to volunteer firefighters. Each entity would have to pass the measure separately. The Town Board has passed the measure unanimously to give volunteer first responders a 10% discount on their Town Tax bill. While on the topic of taxes the Town is entering into our budget planning process. My goal as always is to provide the services that we have all come to expect while being fiscally responsible and keeping the tax rate flat, as we have for the past 3 years. To that end, we are not planning on a townwide assessment currently. Though some under assessed property owners will get an increase, we are holding off on a large-scale reassessment in hopes that the housing market will stabilize. With all of that said I hope to see everyone around town at many of our summer events.
