COM OR CALL (585)768-2201! by Greg “Porp” Rogers Happy Memorial Day to all. Please take time to remember our countries real hero’s the veterans. While some made the ultimate sacrifice, for those we pray for. For the Veterans still with us lets go out our way to thank the ones still with us. America is still the best place in the world to live and these people are the reason why. The board recently received Gerry Aron’s letter of resignation from the sewer board. Gerry served for 37 years and as Chairman for last couple years. His leadership along with the others on the sewer board have put our waste water treatment plant and all that goes with that, in the best position we have seen in a long time. Thank you Gerry for your dedication and service. Steve Carroll has reached out to express the recent process and update our renovation being in good shape and are looking for good to the timeline. The DPW is beginning with its summer projects, number one being making the deadline on the splash park, and a lot of street work. We have seen the completion of the side walk on the corner of Main and Mill. You will see more police department bike patrols around the village, it seems to be sending a good message. Enjoy your holiday and thank a vet. “If you have to win a campaign by dividing people, you’re not going to be able to govern them. You won’t be able to unite them later” Barack Obama Mayor's Corner (Cont.) Lead can cause serious health problems, especially for pregnant women and young children. Lead in drinking water is primarily from materials and components associated with service lines and home plumbing. The Town of Covington is responsible for providing high quality drinking water and removing lead pipes, but cannot control the variety of materials used in plumbing components in your home. You share the responsibility for protecting yourself and your family from the lead in your home plumbing. You can take responsibility by identifying and removing lead materials within your home plumbing and taking steps to reduce your family's risk. Before drinking tap water, flush your pipes for several minutes by running your tap, taking a shower, doing laundry or a load of dishes. You can also use a filter certified by an American National Standards Institute accredited certifier to reduce lead in drinking water. If you are concerned about lead in your water and wish to have your water tested, contact [Water Supply Name and Contact Information]. Information on lead in drinking water, testing methods, and steps you can take to minimize exposure is available at www.epa. gov/safewater/lead. Our system does not have any lead in the water mains, or in lines going into your home.
