When would the community vote on the Capital Project? A vote in the Wolcott Street School Library Media Center will take place in December 2023. A specific date and time will be confirmed after the Board of Education approves the project in October. Will there be a public information meeting on this project? Yes.The specific date for the public information meeting will determined after the Board of Education votes in October. What is Le Roy CSD’s current enrollment UPK – 12 grades? What is the average class size for grades K-12? The current enrollment is 1,155 students with an average of 87 students per class. Our enrollment has stayed very steady over the past five years. What is a Capital Reserve Fund? In May 2019 the voters of the Le Roy CSD approved the district to create a Capital Reserve Fund. Similar to a savings account, school districts can use reserve funds to save money over time to offset costs. The Capital Reserve Fund requires expenditures to be made only by the authorization of the voters and for the specific purpose specified in the proposition. To have a no (zero) tax impact on this project, a portion of the Capital Reserve Fund would be used. Why is the work needed? Every five years, public school districts in New York State are required to pay for and complete through a certified architect a Building Conditions Survey (BCS). The information gleaned from the BCS provides the District with a framework on what problem areas necessitate repair or replacement for each building. The Le Roy Central School District continues to play an important role in making our community a great place to live. With that being said, the goal of this project is to create new opportunities for our students, maintain and upgrade our current facilities, and be fiscally responsible to the taxpayers. I want to thank both the Facilities Committee and the Board of Education for having a clear vision for our future! Thank you, Merritt Holly, Superintendent, Le Roy CSD
