We are all so thrilled to be doing shows again, back to doing what we love. And with this return to our theatres so have we been back to scurrying around backstage making the magic happen. Since 2008 BMI SUPPLY, Inc of Glens Falls NY has been sponsoring the Design Competition and Exhibition and 2021 is no different. We are looking for you to enter and display your tech! Due to the large turnout in our virtual 2020 Festival we plan to allow both virtual and at-festival entries. Pay attention to the website for more specific requirements on how to enter. Theatre companies have also been producing virtual performances. If you have done design work on one of these productions, that too could be entered. Due to the scarcity of live theatre we have decided to expand the entries to shows done in the last 5 years! So, a show done after Nov. 1, 2016, would be eligible! Previous winning BMI designs are ineligible to compete in 2021 but previous non-winning entries can try again. There will be some needed information whether the entry is live or virtual. A 500-word (max) Design Statement that explains your process as you developed the design is required of all entrants. You can also call out your research in this statement. You will also need pictures of the work. If available you can also add sketches and other paperwork. Start gathering those memories and put together a presentation for the Exhibit. If you want to present a virtual entry, the deadline to submit the completed entry to info@tanys.org or via a google link is November 8. At-Festival entries must be registered with the entry form by November 18. You too can support this Festival in different ways. For example, an organization can advertise in an ad their next couple of shows of their season or an individual can purchase an advertisement and be highlighted as a TANYS individual supporter in the program distributed to all attendees. A quarter page ad in the program can be purchased for just $50, a half page for $75 or a full page for $125. If you just want your name included in our publications without an ad, that can be purchased for donations of $25 and up. To purchase any of these options, contact TANYS at info@tanys.org no later than October 29th.
