Renew your membership for 2024 A Note from the Festival Chair Hello everyone! TANYS Festival 2023 is right around the corner! We have lots of fun in store for you. Our theme this year is Masquerade Memories. We thought it was appropriate to honor the closing of Phantom of the Opera on Broadway, as we have local ties to the musical. The Indian River (IR) Thespian Troupe, IR Stage Crew Club, TANYS, Carthage Little Theatre, Little Theatre of Watertown, Watertown Lyric Theater, Butler Did it Players, Stage Notes, the North Country Arts Council and HarmoNNY have been working hard to bring you the Festival. We look forward to seeing everyone and we are hoping that we can avoid all snow-related issues this year! FRIDAY - Registration opens at 3PM on Friday. Starting then, you will be able to explore the merchandise for sale and Silent Auction tables. We will have 2 sessions of workshops starting at 3:45 and 5PM. When you register, you'll be able to choose the topics that you wish to attend. We are working on solidifying the workshop schedule but we have interesting topics for all ages and theatrical backgrounds. If you are looking for a quick bite to eat around the venue on Friday, there are a few locations that you can check out. Directly across the street is Cook’s Diner with typical diner fare. Next door to the right is Jreck Subs where you can get hot or cold subs as well as a variety of other sub shop food items. If you head to Philadelphia (about one mile from the school), Brenda’s Pizzeria has pizza, wings, salads and other grill restaurant type items. If you turn left from the school, you will find the North Country Store that not only has wonderful local products but also a deli with some of the best sandwiches in the whole region. All of these places let you order ahead and pick up orders. We will also have some concessions on site for people looking to buy food that way. The Festival will start in the Main Theatre at 7PM and we will be joined by Master of Ceremonies Ted Keegan, Watertown native and Broadway performer, best known for his portrayal of the Phantom. At roughly 7:30 we will have the first performance session. At the conclusion of the performance session, we will move to Garland City Beerworks for the AfterGlow (GarlandCityBW.com). We will have some small snacks and the bar will be open. There will be some karaoke available for those looking to have some performance time and lots of opportunities to mingle and network. SATURDAY - We'll have two performance sessions and one session of workshops. There will be a catered lunch for Superpass and a la carte lunch ticket holders. Concessions will also be available. At 6PM the Banquet Cocktail Hour will kick off at the Italian American Club (IACAWatertown.com) and we will have karaoke available while you wait for the banquet to begin. At 7PM dinner and the award ceremony will begin. We will be hosting an informal Masquerade Ball Costume Contest and Masquerade Centerpiece Contest for those wishing to participate. Just wear a themed costume and/or bring a centerpiece to place on a table! Make sure to grab a ballot at the banquet so that you can vote on your favorite centerpiece. SUNDAY - We'll have an early workshop session followed by a performance session. At the conclusion of the performance session there will be a bagged lunch for Superpass and a la carte lunch, ticket holders. Make sure to vote for your favorite performance of the weekend and actors of the Festival in the People's Choice Awards, if you have seen all of the performances. At the conclusion of lunch the TANYS general membership meeting will kick off along with Festival and BMI Supply Design Competition Awards. There will be a talk back session with the Festival Adjudicators at the conclusion of this meeting. We hope to see you at the Indian River Theatre of the Performing Arts, November 10-12 for the annual TANYS Festival. Amanda Morrison Chair, TANYS Festival 2023-2024 President, Little Theatre of Watertown Co-Advisor, IR Stage Crew Club
