Each winter, NYSTEA (New York State Theatre Education Association) hosts an annual High School Theatre Conference at the Villa Roma Resort in beautiful Callicoon, New York. This high- spirited weekend is jam-packed with fun and educational theatre workshops, performances, and special events. This year will be the 27th Annual Student Conference held January 5-7, 2024. If you are a high school theatre teacher/advisor/director, please consider bringing your students to the conference. It's a great way for students in grades 10-12 to attend workshops given by professionals in the field and network with hundreds of other theatre students across the state in a fun and safe environment. Deadlines for attending are approaching fast. For more information, please check out the website at NYSTEA.org . Theatre transforms lives, and all children should have access to theatre education. Toward these ends, and over many years, NYSTEA has succeeded in requiring Theatre Teacher Certification, helped create the certification exams, compelled the addition of performance credits for graduation, and more. NYSTEA continues to be the primary theatre education advocacy organization in New York State, working in alliance with other arts educators and helping to write the new State Education Standards for Theatre.
