Presenters will share strategies and activities they practiced while working with a variety of challenging plays and devised projects ( The Yellow Boat by David Saar, The Women of Lockerbie by Deborah Brevoort, Who WIll Carry the Word by Charlotte Delbo and The Laramie Project by the Tectonic Theatre Project.) There will be time for questions and sharing. Monologues as Stories: Connecting Them to Yourself and to your Audience presented by Tanya Roy The things that make stories great are the way that they connect with their audience. A monologue is an opportunity for an actor to tell a story to their audience. Monologues can be impactful and they can also be daunting and nerve-racking. Learn how to study a monologue and break it into its storytelling elements, to make monologues in performance and for auditions work for you. Stage Combat presented by Jim Goodenbery Few things make a production as exciting as the confident and safe use of stage combat. Join this discussion-based workshop for the basics of staying safe on stage, during a chase scene, a stage slap, and so much more. One Play - Two Directors presented by Tanya Roy and Jim Goodenbery Have you ever attended a production and thought “I really like that director's choice” or “I certainly would have done that differently”? Join this lively discussion between these two directors as they discuss a single show, their particular directorial choices, and the motivations behind them, and how those choices are the same or different from each other’s. The following workshops are planned by the Festival Committee and are subject to change. Other topics are also being explored, so stay tuned to the TANYS website in early November for further information and a schedule once it is finalized. The final workshop information will also be included in the Festival program. TANYS Seeking 2025 Host Site TANYS has learned that it is never too early to seek out companies interested in hosting Festival! The TANYS Board of Trustees is soliciting proposals from groups who would be interested in hosting the Festival in 2025 and 2026. We are very grateful that the companies in the North Country are hosting in 2023 and 2024 after a successful multi-year run at Rome Community Theater. Hosting a TANYS Festival is a big endeavor, but it's also very satisfying to bring theatre lovers from throughout NY State to your “home.” We are requesting proposals now to be submitted ASAP so that the new Festival Chair will have the opportunity (and requirement!) to work with the existing crew to get an idea of all that is required of them. There are very specific needs that a site must meet in order to host the festival. Guidelines are available by contacting the TANYS office at info@tanys.org . All proposals will be considered. TANYS NEEDS YOU! Please indicate interest or submit a proposal no later than December 31. Questions? E-mail info@tanys.org . 2022 ESTA President Ruth Brown
