This column iswritten inhishonor. TANYS Administrative Secretary John Parker writes “When I think of Bob Frame, I think of three things: Technical Excellence, dedication and fun. I have known Bob for a number of years going to the TANYS Festival, and have for the last few years been sharing opinions with him on the TANYS Board of Trustees. In terms of technical excellence, Bob is well known at the TANYS Festival for his attention to detail on the technical end. For many years he has been Technical Director and the shows seem to run as if they were rehearsed for 6 weeks, not 45 minutes. He always puts together a top-notch crew and things seem to run flawlessly. He also is the founder and TANYS focal point for the BMI technical awards. This honors the technical elements of theater, a necessary part of any successful production that often goes unrecognized. Currently, Bob is an American Association of Community Theater technical guru as well. In terms of dedication, he has shared his theatrical; expertise with the TANYS Board for several years. It was his suggestion that I apply for the administrative secretary position on the current board. He has held the leadership position of TANYS and is a roving adjudicator illustrating his willingness to manage the organization, share his love of theater with others, and actively participate and host at Cayuga Community College state meetings and festivals. I have come from Rome to some of his one act festivals his students put on and they are always top notch. Lastly, in any capacity, he really spreads his enjoyment of theater with others. He always makes me laugh when I have a question. He is always willing to offer help when I need it. At our TANYS afterglows and banquet his presence is known, having fun with his fellow theater goers.” TANYS Past President Colleen Law-Tefft adds “As I write this, I realize that I have known Bob Frame for over 25 years and first met him when we started attending the TANYS festival in 1993. When I first met Bob, he was the irreverently funny guy who worked backstage at the TANYS festival. We both ended up in the group that continues to this day, staying late at the “afterglow” telling jokes and stories, and of course, having several drinks! When I started serving on the board as the Administrative Secretary in 1998, I began to see Bob in a different light. I realized that underneath the humor and smartass-ery was a very smart, experienced and theater savvy person. As the years have gone on, I’ve gotten to know him better. I’ve seen his work, onstage and off, gotten to know his family and sat through many, many board meetings with him. My respect for him has grown immensely and I now consider him one of the most knowledgeable people I know in theater. Of course, I hate to say all these nice things about him, because there will be no living with him after this!" 40 years, WOW, that is remarkable. BOB YOU ROCK! TANYS congratulates you! Bob Frame- Adjudicator Discretionary Award Best Director, All Around The Table Bob Frame Honored Tanys In Your Hometown One of my priorities as President of TANYS is to increase awareness and visibility of our great organization throughout the state. It is important that both member and non-member theatres know about the networking, education, camaraderie opportunities and other advantages TANYS can provide. To that end I have asked our Board of Directors to agree to moving our Board meeting locations around our great state. Much like the annual Festival moves to different locations. I am pleased to say that the Board members have enthusiastically agreed to do so. This will provide us with the ability to meet and talk with theatre companies and individuals, after or before each meeting, in a social setting; functioning as an opportunity for our members to voice your questions and concerns in an effort to grow and strengthen the TANYS organization. Our next Board meeting will take place (current social conditions allowing) in Sherburne NY, at the Public Library on June 14th. If your theatre would like to host a TANYS Board meeting please let me (or any board member) know. Our meetings take place in January or February, May, September and at Festival. Hope to hear from you, Mike!
