LE ROY PENNYSAVER & NEWS - DECEMBER 31, 2017 Dear Residents of the Village and Town of LeRoy LeRoy Ambulance Service is and has been a vital part of the community's 911 system since 1970, by providing high quality care to the acutely injured and sick. From its inception, the ambulance was 100% staffed by volunteers. Unfortunately, throughout the years, the volunteer sector has since dwindled. The decline in volunteerism is not a problem unique to this area, it's a nationwide issue. With only a few volunteers left, and due to a multitude of reasons, over the years LeRoy Ambulance Service had to implement a paid staff to continue providing high quality care for the community. • Today we currently employ a paid staff of 9 Paramedics and 9 EMTs, both part and full time. • This allows us to respond 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, to any call for help. • These professionals have dedicated themselves to this agency and delivering the best pre-hospital care to the citizens of our wonderful town. • We always staff an advanced life support ambulance, meaning you will receive the highest level of care in your moment of need. • All of LeRoy Ambulances come equipped with defibrillators, cardiac monitors, oxy- gen therapy, advance airway procedures, splinting and fracture management, bleed- ing control, IV therapy, medications and pain management, which allows for us to manage a variety of medical conditions including but not limited to: neurological problems, cardiac problems, shock, allergic reactions and respiratory emergencies. • We are the only ambulance service in Genesee County that is not part of the Fire Department. In December, we responded to 79 calls.
