In game 3 of the alphabet series - the
A’s beat the O’s 5-4. It was the third one
run game between the two teams. Brady
Fixwouldgo51/3 innings to earn thewin
for theA’sbeforebeing relievedbyConner
Wright. JimmyBurnspitched41/3 for the
O’s striking out 11 in the loss.
Mike Covert led the A’s with 2 hits
includinga2 rundouble. JacobElmorehad
a hit and run while DJ O’Geen andMatt
Covert played stellar defense.
Tyler Strollo and Burns led the O’s at
theplatewith twohitsandone runapiece.
Burns hit was a monster home run that
may have landed somewhere in Bergen.
WilliamBogan also scored for theO’s
Yankees 10Tigers 8
The Tigers jumped out early on the
Yankees taking a 5-0 lead after two
complete innings. In the first, the Tigers
Adam Risewick, Robbie Newmark, and
MerritHolly all singled and scored. Alex
Stephanyalso recordedahit in the inning.
In the second inning theTigersWadeDz-
iedkzic drew awalk, andAdamRisewick
singled, both would score in the inning.
In the topof the third theYankeesGianni
Ferrara lead things off with a triple, and
Ryan Shirley was hit by a pitch. Ryan
Higgins then hit a 2 RBI double to score
Ferrara and Shirley. Connor Hagemen
then hit a sacrifice fly ball to center field
scoringHiggins. After3 innings thescore
was5-3 in favorof theTigers. In the topof
the4th, theYankeesBrandonShirleydrew
a walk and was then scored by a Gianni
Ferrara RBI double. Ryan Shirley then
drew a walk. Both Shirley and Ferrara
were thenscoredona2RBIsinglebyRyan
Higgins,giving theYankeesa6-5 leadover
the Tigers. In the bottom of the 4th the
Tigers Adam Risewick andMerrit Holly
both singled. Risewickwould score in the
inning to tie the game at 6. In the top of
the6th theYankeesGianniFerrarasingled
and was then scored on a Ryan Shirley
single. Connor Hageman then singled.
TommyCondidorio thenhita2RBIdouble
toscoreShirleyandHageman. Condidorio
would also score in the inning making it
10-6 Yankees. In the bottom of the 6th
the Tigers Adam Risewick would again
single, andwas scored on a RobbieNew-
mark double. Newmarkwould also score
in the inning. The Yankees defense held
strong and the game ended 10-8 in favor
of the Yankees. Pitching for the Tigers
were Robbie Newmark, Joey Stephany,
andLillyUberty. Pitching for theYankees
wereRyanHiggins, andTomCondidorio.
Indians 4 WhiteSox 3
The Indians and White Sox met for
the 3rd and final time in the 2016 season.
ZachVanderhoofwouldget thestarton the
bump for the Indians while Finn Shelby
toed the rubber for theWhite Sox. Both
pitchers would cruise through the first 2
innings with each striking out 5 batters
in those 2 innings. TheWhite Soxwould
strikefirst in the topof the3rd inningscor-
ing2after2batters reachedonerrors. The
Indians would cut the lead in half in the
bottomof the3rdaftera leadoffdoubleby
MavericMcKenzie. Hewould later score
on a double byVanderhoof. The Indians
would tie the game at 2 in the bottom of
the 5th after another double byMcKenzie
andbeingbatted inbyVanderhoof. After
a scoreless 6th inning, we would head to
extras. With2outs, theWhiteSox’sChase
Cummings would reach safely. Chase
would advance on a passed ball and then
score on a ball hit by Finn Shelby. Down
1 run anddown to their last out in the 7th,
McKenzie would stroll to the plate and
single togive the Indians life. TonyPiazza
singled putting runners at 1st and 2nd.
ZachVanderhoofwas intentionallywalked
to load thebases. CoryWallacewouldhit
the first pitch he sawwhich would score
McKenzie from 3rd. With the game now
tiedandbasesstill loaded,ConnorMcGee
hita1-2pitch toshallow left toscorePiazza
andwin the game for the Indians.
Hitting for the Indians were Maveric
McKenzie (2 doubles, single), Tony Piaz-
za, ZachVanderhoof (single, double), and
ConnorMcGee.
Hitting for the White Sox were Finn
Shelby, Kenny Saunders (single, double),
andAlexDowell.
Twins 3 RedSox 2
The Red Sox started off the top of the
first inning swing hot bats. The first four
batters reachedbasewithhits. JohnPane-
pento had a double, Xavian Walker laid
down a bunt base hit. Joey Brennan and
Luke Caccamise each collected singles.
Panepento andWalker both would go on
to score in the inning. TheTwins pitchers
would eventually settle inmaking it diffi-
cult for theSox toget anything elsegoing.
Cole Rauscher started on the mound. He
gave up two runs while striking out three
batters in 2 2/3 innings. ColinMcCulley
would come in and strike out 9 batters
giving up one hit and no runs.
TheTwinswould also score in thefirst
inning.ColinMcCulley leadoffwithasin-
gle.ColeRauscher thenhit anRBIdouble.
The big hit of the game came in the third
inning.After aMcCulley singleRauscher
tookonedeepover the leftfieldwall for the
two runHR. JacksonLockealso recordera
basehit.TheTwinsmove to13-2andhave
aonegame leadover theA’s in the race for
the 2016Historical Cup.
Orioles 8 Twins 4
TheOrioles andTwinsmatchedup for
the third time this season, with each team
claimingvictoryonceearlier in theseason.
The Orioles struck first in the bottom of
the first inning. Drew Strollo led off the
inningwith a single, and next batter Tyler
Strollo drove him in with a triple. Tyler
was driven in on a single by JamesBlake,
giving the O’s the early 2-0 lead. The
Orioles extended the lead in thebottomof
the 2nd. Andrew Pocock blasted a triple
andwas then knocked in byDrewStrollo
with a single. Tyler Strollo singled, and a
JimmyBurnssingleknocked in theStrollo
brothers. BenPocock singled inBurns to
give theOrioles a 6-0 lead after 2.
The resilientTwinswouldstrikeback in
the topof the3rd. ColinMcCulley ledoff
the inning with a double. Cole Rauscher
then blasted his league leading 7th homer
of the season. After a single by Brett
Babcock, Kaden Burger would single as
well to drive in Babcock to cut the score
in half, 6-3.
In the top of the 4th singles by Colin
McCulleyandColeRauscherwould result
in another run, cutting the lead to 6-4.
The Orioles added a run in the bottom
halfwhen JimmyBurns knocked inDrew
Strollo,making the score 7-4. In the bot-
tom of the 5th, Iaien Frawley started the
inningwith a single. A shot to right field
byAndrew Pocock scored Frawley, how-
ever a good relay fromTwins rightfielder
MatthewBeswickwouldholdPocock toa
tripleandcease thescoringat8-4Orioles.
Cole Rauscher, Jackson Locke, and
Brett Babcock all pitched for the Twins.
Colin McCulley had 2 hits, as did Cole
Rauscherwith ahomerun. BrettBabcock
andKadenBurger each had singles.
Tyler Strollogot thewinon themound
for theOrioles, strikingout 7 in3 innings
of work. Jimmy Burns went the rest of
the way for the save, striking out 5 with
no walks. Andew Pocock led the way at
the plate, with 3 hits including 2 triples, a
runandRBI. DrewStrollo (3 runs,1RBI),
Tyler Strollo (2 runs, 1 RBI), and Jimmy
Burns (1 run,3RBI)allhad twohits in the
game. BenPocock and JamesBlake both
added a hit andRBI, while Iaein Frawley
also singled and scored.
Congratulations to the Twins who
finished the season 13-3, claiming the
Historical Society Trophy with the best
regular season record! The Twins will
enter Scanlan Cup Playoff play with the
number 1 seed.
Yankees 9 Indians 5
In the first inning, Indians lead-off
hitter Maveric McKenzie drew a walk
and scored. Maicen McKenzie, Cory
Wallace, and Connor McGee all singled
but were left on base. For the Yankees
Gianni Ferrarawashit byapitchandTom
Condidoriodrewawalk,bothscored in the
inning. Ryan Shirley and Jake Higgins
singed but were left on base. After 1 the
Yankees were up 2-1. In the second the
Indians,ElijahEitongot thefirst hit of his
little league career and scored in the in-
ning. MavericMackenziesingledandalso
scored, putting the Indians up 3-2. The
Yankees then came back, Landen Saeva
tripled and then scored. After 2 innings
thegamewas tied at 3 runs apiece. In the
third theYankeeswouldputanother runon
the board, afterConnorHageman singled
andwasscoredbyaRyanShirleysacrifice
fly. In the fourth the Indians tied thegame
up at 4 apiece after Maveric McKenzie
singled and Maicen McKenzie drew a
walk, bothwould score in the inning. The
Yankees would answer in the 4th after
LandenSaevawalked andGianni Ferrara
singled. RyanHiggins then stepped to the
plateandhit a2RBI single to scoreSaeva
andFerrara, andput theYankees backon
top 6-5. In the fifth, the Yankees would
add to the leadwith Jake Higgins, Adam
Woodworth, and Gianni Ferrara getting
a singles. Tommy Condidorio then hit a
2 RBI double to the fence in left center
field. Jake Higgins, Landen Saeva, and
GianniFerraraall scored for theYankees.
YankeespitcherTomCondidoriobattled to
strikeout2 Indian’sbatters in the topof the
6th to secure thegame for theYankees, fi-
nal scoreYankees9 Indians5. Pitching for
the IndianswasConnorMcGee. Pitching
for the Yankees were Connor Hageman
andTomCondidorio.
White Sox17 A’s 10
Saturday afternoon saw theWhiteSox
and theA’s face off inwhatwas a see saw
battle. ParkerDowellstartedon themound
for theWhiteSox, and showedgreat poise
out there for his first time on themound.
Parker retired the A’s batters 1-2-3 in the
first inning. In the bottom of the first the
White Sox got on the board with timely
hitting by the middle of the line-up. Fin
Shelby, Kenny Saunders, Mike Buccina,
Alex Dowell, Josh Nobel, and Parker
Dowell all had hits in the first, with an
RBI forAlexDowell, and2 for JoshNobel
afterascorcheddouble.Thescorewas5-0
in favor of the Sox going into the second
inning.WhiteSoxbats thenwent cold for
thesecondand third innings. Over thenext
3 innings theA’s bats came to life scoring
2 runs in the 2nd, 2 runs in the 3rd, and 4
runs in the4th,giving theA’s the leadwith
a scoreof 8-5headed into thebottomof 4.
Hitting for the A’s over that stretch were
Shawn Morabito who had an awesome
game hitting for the cycle! Mike Covert
had a single, JakeWilliams had 2 singles
andamonster triple,ConnerWright had2
singles, JacksonFixasingle,BryceLathan
filling in had a nice double, and Austin
Boguewith a good eye at the plate drew a
pairofwalks. TheWhiteSoxwouldscore
1 in the bottom of the 4th inning before
opening thefloodgateswith a 10Run5th
inning. Leaving thescoreat17-10Soxgo-
ing into the topof the6th inning. In the top
of the6thKennySaunders took themound,
and finished strong striking out 3 batters.
Also pitching for 2 innings for theWhite
Sox wasMike Buccina. Pitching for the
A’s were Connor Wright, JakeWilliams,
Shawn Morabito, Matt Covert, Jackson
Fix, and JakeElmore. Also, contributing
to theWhite Sox effort were JoeBiletsky
with 2walks, Wyatt Draper with a walk,
and Chase Cummings with a walk and 2
singles. Great gamebyall theplayersand
a great regular season!
RedSox6 Tigers 2
The Red Sox knocked off the Tigers
in their regular seasonfinaleby a scoreof
6-2. TheRedSox used great pitching and
defense to earn thewin. LukeCaccamise
retired the first 14 batters of the game in
order before an error spoiled his perfect
game attempt. Caccamise would allow
his first hit, an Adam Risewick single,
with two outs in the 6th. He was one out
fromano-hitter,Caccamisepitchedall six
inningsallowingonly twohitsandstriking
out4.For theTigers,Risewickwouldpitch
2 1/3 innings, he struck out 1. Jackson
Spezzano would throw the remaining 2
2/3. He struck out 2.
Offensively the Red Sox were able to
score three runs in thefirst.XavienWalker
and Caccamise would both reach base to
start the inning. John Panepento’s double
scored Walker while Caccamise would
score on a Sac fly from Joey Brennan.
BryceLathanwouldpickupanRBIwhen
hisgrounderwould scorePanepentomak-
ing the score 3-0. They tackedon another
3 in the 3rd inning. Consecutive hits by
Caccamise andPanepento and aBrennan
walkstarted the inning.Caccamisewould
score on a passed ball. Panepento and
Brennan would score on a ground-rule
double byLathanmaking the score 6-0.
For the Tigers thewould score 2 in the
6th inning.BothRisewickandRobbieNew-
markhadhitsandwouldscore in the inning.
