LE ROY PENNYSAVER & NEWS - SEPTEMBER 30, 2018 LeRoy Senior Knights 30, Avon Braves 0 Submitted by: Mark Higgins The undefeated Le Roy Senior Knights travelled to Avon on Sunday to face the Braves. Le Roy would go on defense first and shut down the Braves on their first offensive possession. After Eric Luce, Holden Sullivan and Zander Cole each recorded tackles for losses, the Knights would take over on the Braves 32 yard line. On the first offensive play for the Knights Jake Higgins would break loose from the defense picking up 23 yards before being tackled at the 9 yard line. Adam Woodworth would then drive the ball to the 4 yard line and on the next play Alex Spezzano would score his first rushing TD of the season. Le Roy would miss the 2 point conversion and take an early 6-0 lead. The Braves would take over at their 32 yard line. The Knights would again stop the Braves in 4 plays and take over on downs at the Braves 37 yard line. Jude Sherman battling through sickness would get the Knights going with a big gain on 1st down. Three offensive plays later, Le Roy would take a 12-0 lead after Adam Woodworth ran 6 yards into the end zone untouched behind excellent blocking from Holden Sullivan, DJ O’Geen, Wyatt Draper and Peter Clark. The Knights would be unsuccessful on the 2 point conversion attempt. Noah Kazanowski’s kickoff then pinned the Braves at their own 25 yard line. Three plays later Le Roy’s Jack Egeling would force a fumble and Zander Staba would recover for the Knights. LeRoy would take over at the Braves 38. Adam Woodworth lead off with a 10 yard gain, before Peter Clark picked up 5 more on an end around. Jake Higgins would then pick up 12 yards. Alex Spezzano then hit Zander Staba with a 15 yard TD pass to put the Knights up 18-0. After the ensuing kickoff the Braves took over on offense. Defensively after big tackles by Joey Reschke and Connor Elmore, Zander Staba would get his second fumble recovery of the day to give the ball back to the Knights at the Braves 25 yard line. The next Le Roy drive was all Jack Egeling. Egeling would run for 17, 5 and then score on a 3 yard run behind the blocking of Branden Shirley, Jayce Panepento, and Connor Corcimiglia. The Braves next offensive possession would come to a stop after a Jake Higgins interception. The first half would end with the Knights up 24-0. The Knights would add a TD in the second after Connor Elmore broke loose for a 20 yard run before scoring later in the drive on a 5 yard run. The game would end with the Knights winning 30-0.
