LeRoy Knights Flag Football Submitted by: Joseph Bogue The leroy knights flag teams travelled to Avon on sunday and faced a bigger and older Avon braves team but the knights would not be intimidated. The first half started with big runs by Sammy Bogue Thomas Englerth Preston Heschke and Blake Fetzer . The Braves would take over and be met by the knights defense as Camden Weber Jace Beauchamp Anthony price and Brody Wilson would push the line back and leave openings for Wyatt Whipple Jaiden Biletskiy and Carter Mcclurg to attack the ball carriers. The 2nd half would continue to be a defensive battle with amazing defense being played by Brody Wilson Camden Weber Anthony price and Jaiden Biletskiy. The knights final possession took place with 2 minutes left and with Avon scoring the only touchdown of the half until on the last play Blake Fetzer hit Sammy Bogue with a pass then he weaved through the defense picking up great blocks along the way by Carter Mcclurg Thomas Englerth Wyatt Whipple and Jace Beauchamp and just as it appeared he would be stopped short of the goal line Preston Heschke made the final block to seal a lane to the endzone for a knights touchdown !!The theme for the red team in week four was grit! Going up against the hardest challenge of the season so far. It started fast with great runs by gunner Humphrey and Cameron Montesano both set up by sensational blocks by Maddox Finnin and Ben Biracree. The knights could not push it in after making it to the red zone. Avon then scored their first and only td on the third possession of the game with a long sideline run. Not to be out done the Leroy offense came out hungry, Blake Biracree caught a pass and added yardage running around a textbook block from laurilye Beardsley. Eli Fortuna ran a sweep right for a first down right after and in the hurry up offense A quick toss to Ryker Vangalio had him running up the sideline dodging defenders and running over the pylon for a knights touchdown!!! On the other side of the ball Andrew Sibley was the difference maker, running all over the field trapping running backs so that Weston Humphrey, Cameron Montesano and Nathan Macintyre could all get flags. After Cameron Montesano and Eli Fortuna stopped Avon on two possession it was time for both teams to head to the sideline for halftime. In the second half it was all about defense for both teams.Blake Biracree , Weston Humphrey and Gunner Humphrey all shut down Avon and brought the offense onto the field. With great blocks by Andrew Sibley and Ryker Vangalio there was enough room for great runs by Eli Fortuna, Blake Biracree and an amazing side line tip toe by Gunner Humphrey giving the knights a first down but the knights could not finish the drive off and it was up to the defense to step it up. Weston Humphrey, Eli Fortuna ,Cameron Montesano and Gunner Humphrey made it a four and out. With minimal time left on the clock Weston Humphrey and Ben Biracree gave it all the had with hard nosed runs up the field as the clock ticked down to zero. This game displayed the heart and soul these kids have and the hard work they put in to make the community proud. The "LeRoyan of the Year" Banquet honoring this year's Award Winner Robert L.
